Patrick J. Dresser

Patrick J. Dresser, known to many as “Sleepy,” passed away on April 6, 2026, at the age of 61, due to heart failure. Born on December 2, 1964, in Dekalb, Illinois, Patrick spent his final years in Metropolis, Illinois, surrounded by the people and community he loved so dearly.

Patrick was a proud Union Millwright, dedicating his career to Siemens Generation Services. He worked his way up from journeyman to foreman, then to CLS, and was serving as Safety Manager at the time of his passing. Before finding his calling in the trades, he spent his younger years as an over the road truck driver. In every role, Patrick brought the same qualities that defined him: dependability, loyalty, and an unmatched work ethic.

Soft spoken and genuine, Patrick was the kind of friend everyone deserved but few are lucky enough to find. He was fiercely protective of his loved ones and steady as they come. If you didn’t want an honest opinion, you knew better than to ask him.

When he wasn’t working, Patrick could be found riding his Harley, diving, playing his guitars, or listening to music. He was a dedicated diving instructor at Mermet Springs and loved nothing more than spending time with his “grandloves,” whether attending their sporting events or enjoying some back porch sitting with a cold one. He lived his life full throttle, and it showed.

Patrick was a Master Mason with Lodge #91 in Metropolis, a lifetime member of Lodge #411 in Blessing, Texas, and a member of the Widows Sons MRA 2 Rivers Chapter. His commitment to these brotherhoods reflected the loyalty and fellowship that anchored his life.

He is survived by his partner, Twila Mitchell; his son, Cody Dresser and wife Kelsey; his daughters, Sara Jennings and Ali Johnson and husband Nick; his grandchildren, Mason, Teagan, Avery, Brayden, Keaton, and Kylie; aunts, Sue Sumner and Jeanna Evers; uncle, James “Bo” Yates; and cousins, Evelyn, Elaine and Cindy.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Evers Eichorn; grandparents, Rolland and Miriam Evers; uncle, Daniel; and cousin, Elizabeth.

Services will be held Friday, April 17, 2026, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home followed by Masonic Rites at noon and Widows Sons Rites. The funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Brian Anderson.

We will always cherish our lives with him and miss him for the rest of ours. Thank you for your friendships, prayers, and thoughts as we learn to navigate our new normal.

Arrangements are entrusted to Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home. Condolences for the family may be left online at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
