Metuchen community, please stay safe during this winter storm. Heavy snowfall, strong winds, and icy conditions are expected throughout the area. Travel may become dangerous very quickly.

- Avoid unnecessary travel
- Stay indoors if possible
- Keep flashlights, blankets, and emergency supplies ready
- Check on elderly neighbors and vulnerable family members
- Keep fire hydrants clear if you’re able to do so safely

Our crews are monitoring conditions and ready to respond. Let’s look out for one another and get through this storm safely together. 🤍

Metuchen — due to the current winter conditions, we’re asking everyone to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Icy surfaces and low visibility put drivers, pedestrians, and first responders at risk.

If you’re heading outside to shovel, please:

• Warm up first
• Take frequent breaks. Pace yourself, especially in heavy snow.
•Stay hydrated
•Know your limits
•Check on neighbors – especially older adults or those with medical conditions

Perfect timing for ! Today, Metuchen broke ground on the new Emergency Services Center, a milestone for our Fire Department, EMS, and Office of Emergency Management.

This future home will be where generations of first responders train, serve, and protect our community. Proud to see Metuchen investing in those who dedicate their lives to keeping us safe.

Thursday night, we got a chance to teach our Girl Scouts some first aid basics! It was amazing watching their curiosity and courage shine as they learned about some of our tools and methods and that they themselves can do a lot to help someone in an emergency.

Very excited to begin the next chapter in the construction of the Emergency Services Center! Thank you to everyone who has helped get this project to where it is today, and we're looking forward to getting shovels in the ground soon!

Tonight marks a historic moment for Metuchen. After decades of planning and overcoming countless obstacles, at tonight’s Council Meeting we finally approved the bids for our new Metuchen Emergency Services Center — a modern new home for our Fire Department, EMS, and Office of Emergency Management.

Located at 1 Safety Place on the former site of the EMS Building, this long-awaited project will give our first responders the space and tools they need to keep Metuchen safe, all under one roof, with completion expected in 2027.

Today we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the bravery of the first responders who ran toward danger.

As EMS professionals, we honor the 343 FDNY firefighters, 60 police officers, 8 paramedics and EMTs, and so many others who made the ultimate sacrifice that day. Their courage reminds us why we do what we do: to serve, protect, and care for others in their greatest moments of need.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸
