Compression in the spine happens naturally throughout life. Sitting for long periods, bouncy movements like walking, or working out, and even carrying your kids can all lead to compression within the spinal column. 🔙

Although it is entirely normal, too much spinal compression can lead to painful effects… especially as we age. Spinal compression leads to compression of the spinal cord and nerves between the vertebrae, and/or rubbing and degeneration of the vertebrae. With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, work, family, and juggling everything else, it's easy to lose your footing. Take in the frequencies of the Earth to balance and calibrate your cells by walking barefoot (on a natural Earth surface) for a few minutes each morning. It's called “grounding” or “Earthing”. 🌍️🦶

You have one of the most powerful stress reduction tools already within you: your breath!🫁

A great breathing tool to lower blood pressure and stress in the body is called alternate nostril breathing, or Nadi Shodhana. It’s a yogic breathing practice alternating breathing in through one nostril and out through the other. The simple pattern relaxes the brain and stress responses to bring you closer to homeostasis.

Try it for a few rounds of breath:
Place the middle three fingers between the brows, so the thumb or pinky can cover either nostril.
Breathe in through the right nostril while holding the left nostril closed with the pinky.
At the end of your inhale, switch.
Close the right nostril with the thumb and exhale out of the left nostril.
Continue in this pattern, alternating nostrils with your own breathing pace.
Reflect on how even just a few rounds makes you feel. Give it a try next time you feel stressed.
