Wednesday Wisdom Tooth

Wisdom teeth can cause problems before you even realize it. Here are a few signs to watch for:

• Gum swelling around the last molars: often a sign of erupting or impacted wisdom teeth.

• Recurring gum inflammation : removal is often easier before the roots fully develop, so don’t wait too long for a consultation.

• Difficulty chewing: discomfort when biting may mean your wisdom teeth are misaligned or pushing other teeth (especially after braces).

• Jaw pressure or Headaches or discomfort: wisdom teeth pressure can radiate to the jaw and head. Persistent pain in the back of your mouth should be evaluated.

✨ These could mean impacted or erupting wisdom teeth. Removal is often easier before they fully develop roots.

It’s National Dentist Day! 🦷

If we had to choose again, we would still pick this career. Even on the hard days, there’s never a doubt that we chose right.

Black dentists represent less than 4% of the entire dental workforce. Sometimes it feels like there are more of us, but in reality we are still a very small minority in dentistry.

What a privilege and an honor it is to be part of this select group. Our hope is to see these numbers continue to grow. We have to keep showing up, representing, and paving the way for the next generation of future dentists.
