Upcoming Event Information: Child and Adolescent Trauma and Treating Traumatized Families Training 1501 International Parkway Lake Mary, Florida 32746

This two day workshop explore the childhood issues and anticedent to risk and resiliency to trauma situations and explores reactions and symptoms of the major DSM 5 diagnostic disorders related to trauma in children, adolescents, and the family structure. Emphasis is placed and effective evidence based interventions and specific skills such as 'modified sandtray, use of methaohor, and story narrative are explored.

This CE discusses diagnosis and DSM changes about child and adolescent trauma disorders. Attention is focused at treatment issues, treatment modalities, and the effects of crisis and disaster trauma versus long term chronic trauma. Specific intervention modalities are taught for skills development. With families,the focus of psychological first aid is to understand the wide range of needs of survivors across the developmental life span. Emphasis is placed on cultural awareness, flexible methodology, and research best practices.

Objectives

Participants will be able to determine and build upon traumatized children, families, and other systems’ strengths and deficits that can be addressed by traumatology interventions;
Participants will be able to know how to classify the presenting symptoms of the traumatized system and determine the best intervention approach from an array of approaches, and synthesize material to prevent the pitfalls to burnout and secondary trauma (compassion fatigue)
Participants will be able to identify how resiliency and stress reductions are determined in part by the history and social resources of the traumatized system;
