Not every DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC) lasts 2 years — and there are good reasons for that! Here are 3 common reasons a driver might receive a 1-year certification instead of 2:

1️⃣ High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)
If your blood pressure is above DOT limits but still safe for driving, the examiner may issue a 1-year certificate to make sure it stays under control.

2️⃣ Diabetes or Other Chronic Conditions
Drivers who manage conditions like diabetes or heart issues often get a shorter certification so the examiner can monitor stability and treatment effectiveness.

3️⃣ Sleep Apnea & CPAP Use 😴
If you’ve been diagnosed with sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine, you’ll typically receive a 1-year MEC. This allows the examiner to confirm that your treatment is working and that you’re using your CPAP as prescribed.

🚫💊 Muchos piensan que la muestra de o***a del examen físico DOT es para un examen de dr**as… ¡pero no lo es! 😅

🧪 Se utiliza solo para revisar si hay azúcar, proteína o sangre en la o***a — cosas que ayudan al médico a evaluar tu salud general y asegurarse de que estás apto para manejar. 🚛💪

👀 Durante tu examen físico DOT también se revisa tu visión.
Para poder pasar, necesitas tener una vista mínima de 20/40, ya sea con o sin lentes. 🤓
👉 Si usas lentes, ¡no olvides traerlos! Así podemos completar tu examen el mismo día. ✅
