🚫 Blepharoplasty Myths—Busted 👁️🤯
There’s a lot of misinformation out there about eyelid surgery. Let’s clear a few things up:
Myth No. 1: Blepharoplasty requires general anesthesia
➡️ Not true. Many eyelid procedures (both upper and lower blepharoplasty) can be safely and comfortably performed under local anesthesia with or without oral sedation.
Myth No. 2: Insurance usually covers blepharoplasty
➡️ Usually false. Coverage for upper eyelid blepharoplasty is rare and possible only in severe cases. It requires strict insurance criteria based on multiple factors. Lower eyelid blepharoplasty is never covered. Plus, this type of surgery is to improve functional vision, not achieve outstanding cosmetic enhancement.
Myth No. 3: Blepharoplasty always looks “done” or unnatural
➡️ Never. When performed with specialized techniques and restoration of natural anatomy, results should look refreshed, rested, and natural—not surgical.
Education matters. Technique matters. Surgeon selection matters. Trust a specialist.
