💚✨ Black History Month Spotlight: Dr. Mamie Phipps Clark

In honor of Black History Month and this year’s theme, A Century of Black History Commemorations, NAMI Miami-Dade proudly recognizes Dr. Mamie Phipps Clark, a pioneering psychologist whose research transformed education and civil rights in the United States. Her groundbreaking “Doll Test” in the 1940s provided critical evidence in Brown v. Board of Education, the landmark Supreme Court case that declared school segregation unconstitutional and paved the way for integration.

Dr. Clark’s work not only advanced the understanding of child development and social psychology but also highlighted the systemic challenges faced by Black individuals, shaping both education and advocacy for generations to come.

This Black History Month, we honor the vision, courage, and lasting impact of Dr. Mamie Phipps Clark and celebrate how her contributions continue to inspire justice, equity, and opportunity in communities across the nation. ✨💚

Taking care of your mental health is one of the greatest acts of love there is. Whether it’s checking in with someone you care about, setting aside time to recharge, or simply speaking kindly to yourself, those small moments matter.

Let’s celebrate today with kindness, joy, and a little extra heart—for ourselves and those around us.✨❤️

💙✨ What a day for community, connection, and mental health!

On February 7th, we had the incredible opportunity to be part of two amazing events — a powerful ride with our friends at Harley-Davidson and a beautiful giveback activation with Kendra Scott.

From revving engines to sparkling jewelry, every moment was a reminder that when our community shows up, we show up with heart.

Thank you to everyone who rode, shopped, supported, and helped raise awareness for mental health in Miami-Dade. Your presence and partnership make this work possible.

Together, we’re building a community where mental health is seen, supported, and celebrated.

Swipe through to relive the highlights! ✨💙

💙✨ Today we’re celebrating a powerful impact in su***de prevention!

NAMI Miami-Dade’s Su***de Prevention Coordinator, Lisa LeSuer, was awarded the “Saving Lives Through Connection Award” by the Florida Department of Health in Monroe County.

Through the QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) program she leads, lives are being changed and saved. The program’s implementation has contributed to a reduction in su***des in Monroe County, a testament to the power of education, connection, and community action.

We thank the Florida Department of Health in Monroe County for recognizing the importance of this work, and we are incredibly proud of Lisa’s leadership and dedication to building safer, more supportive communities.

Please join us in congratulating her on this well-deserved recognition! ✨💙

💚✨ Black History Month Spotlight: Bebe Moore Campbell

In honor of Black History Month and this year’s theme, A Century of Black History Commemorations, NAMI Miami-Dade proudly recognizes Bebe Moore Campbell, author, journalist, educator, and mental health advocate. She uplifted Black and underrepresented communities, founded NAMI-Inglewood, and created safe spaces where open conversations about mental health could thrive.

Her advocacy highlighted the mental health needs of marginalized communities, inspiring awareness, support, and action. In recognition of her legacy, Congress designated July as Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month in 2008.

This Black History Month, we honor not only the historical figures who shaped our past but also everyday champions like Bebe Moore Campbell, whose tireless activism continues to inspire equity, connection, and mental wellness in communities nationwide. ✨💚
