Florida is one of many states that have legalized cannabis for medical use, and more than 190,000 patients are on the state registry of medical ma*****na users. Some states, including California, Colorado, Nevada and Washington, have legalized w**d entirely, and employers have begun to rethink whether ma*****na use should disqualify new hires.

“Quite a number of our clients are no longer testing for THC,” said Joyce Chastain, a human resources consultant and former president of the HR Florida State Council. “They don’t want to lose good people.”

In the context of changing attitudes toward pot — and with unemployment at 50-year lows — even employers in staid industries like the auto business are loosening their rules about ma*****na use.

At the Ed Morse empire of auto dealerships, testing for THC no longer is part of the hiring process. Ed Morse Automotive Group this month stopped

A Florida judge on Friday ruled that the state’s ban on smokable medical ma*****na is unconstitutional.

Leon County Circuit Court Judge Karen Gievers wrote in her ruling that residents “have the right to use the form of medical ma*****na for treatment of their debilitating medical conditions as recommended by their certified physicians.”

The Florida health department said that it has appealed the ruling, resulting in an automatic stay, according to The Associated Press.

Medical ma*****na advocates praised Gievers’s ruling as a victory for patients.

Patients “should be able to obtain cannabis in any format their doctor thinks will work best to treat them,” said Surterra CEO Jake Bergmann in a statement.

“The cannabis plant is medicine in its most natural form, and if DOH will allow it, we will provide it for patients.”

Surterra Wellness, a medical ma*****na provider, says it’s “joined the fight to allow direct-to-patient sales of full cannabis plants,” according to a Tuesday press release. Surterra filed a “petition to intervene” in an administrative action by Trulieve, another Florida provider, to let m...

Today I'm writing because my mother, who suffers from stage 4 Parkinson's Disease, has been suffering from all of the horrible symptoms of that monster disease. She has had difficulty of gait -with freezing, insomnia (which is detrimental to her at 83 years old), pains, tremors, depression, the whole works. She finally agreed to try CBD Oil - remember, she comes from a different time and was taught about "re**er madness". She really believed that and was refusing to try medical ma*****na. Finally, as her condition has deteriorated, I was able to take her to a seminar by a doctor who explained how the human cannabinoid system works. She started CBD oil two weeks ago. The results are truly amazing. She is walking on her own (usually her balance is off and she cant). She is sleeping all night without taking xanax which would give her anxiety attacks every afternoon. We haven't had an anxiety attack in over a week now. Her voice is back (another symptom of PD) and she is actually picking up the phone and calling her friends and doing arts and crafts again! More research is needed and the federal government needs to remove Ma*****na as a schedule 1 drug so this can take place on a larger scale. When I think of people like my mom, who suffer daily with debilitating diseases, who have been kept from a medicine because of a lack of research and understanding - it makes me want to do something about it. Stay tuned - FACTS is putting together a plan of action.
