Why does diabetes make you thirsty? 🧐

When you have diabetes, your kidneys are forced to work much harder to filter and absorb excess glucose. There comes a time when glucose exceeds the filtering capacity of the kidneys and they cannot keep up, secreting glucose, in turn dragging fluid from the tissues, which dehydrates and this generally causes thirst.

What are the first signs of being diabetic? 🧐

If you have any of the following symptoms of diabetes, see your doctor for a blood sugar test:

✅ Urinating (peeing) a lot, often at night.

Why diabetes cause kidney failure?

The kidneys are made up of millions of small filters called nephrons, which are responsible for filtering waste and excess water from the blood. When the level of sugar is high in the blood and the kidneys cannot keep up with the rate of filtering it, this begins to "ferment" by an oxidation process and over time damages the filters and blood vessels of the kidneys, making them stop working as waste begins to accumulate in the body.

The kidneys also help control blood pressure and make the hormones the body needs to stay healthy.

What is Painful Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy? 🤔

Painful Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy is one of the frequent complications of diabetes mellitus (type 1 and type 2 diabetes) and occurs as a consequence of peripheral nerve dysfunction; It is manifested, in most cases, by the appearance of a specific type of neuropathic pain that causes great suffering, high degrees of disability and significant deterioration in the quality of life.

In cases of severe or prolonged peripheral neuropathy, you may be vulnerable to injuries or infections. In serious cases, poor wound healing or infection can lead to amputation.

💯 Fact: Approximately 25% of diabetic patients are affected by this problem.

✅ Sensitivity to touch
✅ Loss of sense of touch
✅ Difficulty with coordination when walking

Sometimes treatable secondary causes may be the source of your resistant hypertension 😮. These conditions may be raising your blood pressure.

Examples of such secondary causes include ✍️:

✅ Primary hyperaldosteronism, an excessive production of certain hormones from the adrenal glands.

✅ Renal artery stenosis, a narrowing of the arteries of the kidneys.

✅ Chronic kidney disease.

✅ Sleep apnea.

✅ Less common causes include pheochromocytoma, a tumor in the adrenal gland; aortic narrowing; and Cushing syndrome, an overproduction of some steroid hormones.

There is no single diet for everyone who suffers from gastroparesis since each case and person is different, but you can feel better if you learn what and how to eat.

We have some tips for you, but remember, the goal is to relieve symptoms while making sure to nourish your body as much as possible 👇

✅ Tip 1: prepare smaller food portions by increasing the frequency of their intake. We recommend you eat between 4 to 6 times a day, so your stomach swells less and empties faster. A small food portion is 1 to 1½ cups of food.

✅ Tip 2: integrate in your meals the one that you can mix with liquids, since the liquids leave the stomach faster than those solid foods. Example, you can mix potatoes with broth in a blender, your imagination is the limit, you can use it to mix water, natural juices, etc.

✅ Tip 3: try to eat solid foods in the morning and liquid foods in the afternoon and evening. If your symptoms are severe, your doctor may suggest that you follow a liquid diet for a while.

Participation in the study lasts just over 1 month.

Study participants can expect the following: 👇

🔵 Screening (2 weeks or less):
Visit the study clinic twice for study health assessments to ensure qualification for the study.

🔵 Study drug period (4 weeks):
Be randomly assigned (like the flip of a coin) to receive the study drug or placebo. Placebo looks like the study drug but has no active ingredients. Study participants are more likely to receive the study drug than placebo.

Take the study drug or placebo by mouth each morning, about 30 minutes before a meal.

Visit the study clinic about 4 times for study health assessments.

🔵 Follow-up (1 week):
Visit the study clinic 2 more times for blood tests and follow-up health assessments.
