Relevant 🏈 SportsBall 🏈 Injury Breakdown: Aaron Rodgers Fractured Collarbone (2017)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
FOOSH
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Cool word, right? FOOSH Is an acronym for: Falling on outstretched hand and it is one of the leading causes of all sportsball injuries there are!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here we have Aaron Rodgers (very relevant due to his NFC championship status) FOOSHing about in this 2017 regular season game in which the defensive lineman fell onto him as he reached to break his fall.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The problem with this bracing is that it puts the shoulder in a very unstable position. Many injuries occur here from this one to rotator cuff and larval tears. Funny how our natural inclinations sometimes lead to more harm than good 🤔
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Anyway, his fall wasn’t the only thing he broke there. X-Rays revealed a fracture collarbone (or as intellectuals say: clavicle) on his throwing shoulder, forcing him to miss the rest of the regular season.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You see, the clavicle is an important bone in creating torque and rotation about the shoulder joint when hurling a football 50 yards down field. You can’t have that sh*% in two pieces or else you’ll be throwing ducks 🦆
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Rodgers eventually had surgery and missed the rest of the season 😢. A worse outcome then when he has fractured his non-throwing shoulder the same way a few seasons earlier.
