Teaching the community to be self-sufficient, goats' distribution at Chatelas (outside of Saint-Marc) Haiti. Click on www.toysforthepoor.org/donate. A female goat, also known as a doe or nanny, can give birth to one to five kids at a time, twice a year or twice every 12-18 months, but the number of kids depends on the doe's age and how many times she has given birth before. Year 1, female goat give birth twice to 4 kids, family sells 2 and keeps 2, Year 2, female goat give birth again to 4, family sells 2 and keeps 2. Year 3, 3 females give birth to 12 kids, family sells 6 and keeps 6, Year 4, 5 females give birth to 20 goats, Year 5, 11 females, give birth to 44 kids, Family is now self-sufficient, they just have to follow the trend, keep half and sell half, specially sell the male.
