17 days away from watching faith move mountains. 🙏

Every gift given to Riverside House carries more than material value; it carries grace. It becomes warmth for someone who has slept in the cold, guidance for someone finding their way, and dignity for someone rediscovering who they are in God’s eyes.

This Give Miami Day, we’re praying to raise $25,000 to continue offering hope, housing, and healing for those walking the path of renewal.

📅 Early Giving: Nov 15–19
💜 Give Miami Day: Nov 20

Your early gift is an act of faith that reminds someone they are seen, loved, and not forgotten by God.

Together, let’s keep showing Miami what His love can do. ✨

Everyday moments at Riverside House tell a story of grace in motion, like a resident completing daily roll call cleaning duty, another reading in quiet reflection, another simply walking forward into a new chapter. 🙏

These small steps are signs of God rebuilding lives from the inside out.

As Give Miami Day approaches, we’re praying for the support to keep moments like these possible.

📅 Early Giving: Nov 15–19
💜 Give Miami Day: Nov 20

No gift is too small when placed in God’s hands. Together, we can continue to be a refuge of faith, hope, and second chances for Miami’s most vulnerable.

We’re growing our team at Riverside House, and we’re looking for people with a heart for service, compassion, and faith. 💙

If you feel called to support individuals rebuilding their lives after incarceration, we currently have an opening for Resident Monitor and Case Manager. This role is essential in guiding, encouraging, and walking alongside the men and women who come through our doors seeking hope, stability, and a fresh start.

If you’re passionate about helping others, creating a safe and supportive environment, and being part of a mission grounded in God’s love, we’d love to hear from you.

You’ve got to meet Herman, a man whose life shows what redemption and purpose truly look like.

✂️ From Barber Chair to Ministry: Herman’s Story of Transformation ✨

Originally from California, Herman Avalos came to Miami chasing the party life, girls, drinking, and fun. But everything changed when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and felt called to serve others and give back to the community. 🙌

With over six years of experience as a professional barber, Herman now uses his skills to bless others. What started and continues as free haircuts for friends and church members has also grown into a weekly ministry at Riverside House, where he provides free haircuts to our homeless residents and residential reentry residents. 💈❤️

He found Riverside House through a simple Google search, and we’re so glad he did! Herman also serves with Antioch Church in Wynwood, partnering with other believers to share the love of Christ with those in need.

We are so grateful and blessed to have Herman as part of the Riverside House family, a living reminder that when we say yes to God, He can use our gifts to transform lives, one haircut at a time. 💫

Every day at Riverside House begins with a simple act of faith, welcoming someone home. 🙏

This moment captures Mr. Rocha, our Program Director, completing the intake process for a new resident. For many, this is their first step toward safety, dignity, and hope after hardship. And every step forward starts with compassion, prayer, and the belief that God restores what’s been broken.

As Give Miami Day approaches, we’re praying to raise $25,000 to continue this mission of faith and restoration, and your generosity can make this work possible.

$50-$75 can provide a complete clothing package, facility attire, shoes, and professional clothing for employment, helping someone feel seen, valued, and ready to start again.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

At Riverside House, we proudly stand in support of all those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer, the survivors, the fighters, and the families who walk beside them. This month, our staff are wearing pink attire and uniform shirts to show our solidarity, raise awareness, and honor the strength, courage, and hope that define this journey. 💗

A special thank-you goes to Mrs. Michelle Taylor, our Life Coach and Spiritual Development Coordinator, for her thoughtful generosity in gifting each staff member with beautiful pink gift bags filled with a bracelet, pin, pen, cup with straw, and journal, a heartfelt reminder to live with purpose, compassion, and faith. 🌸

Together, we wear pink not just as a color, but as a symbol of love, awareness, and support. 💕

Every year, 1,500–2,000 individuals are released from prison into Miami-Dade County. At Riverside House, we believe everyone deserves a second chance, whether they’ve been through our Residential Reentry Program or not.

Our Non-Residential Support Program is designed to grow our services to guide 2,000 people annually towards a productive, fulfilling life. With a three-part plan and holistic support, we’re here to make reentry a success for all.

Because life changes are hard, but everyone deserves guidance on the path to a brighter future. 💙

Every year, Give Miami Day unites our community in faith, hope, and generosity. At Riverside House, we see daily how God works through people like you to restore lives, helping men and women rebuild after incarceration, reunite with family, and find purpose through His grace.

Your generosity raised $8,270.17 last year, giving more than 364 people a fresh start filled with hope. 🙏

This year, we’re believing for even greater things, with a goal of $25,000 to continue offering hope, safety, and spiritual restoration to those ready for a second chance.

At Riverside House, every act of service, big or small, becomes part of something greater. 💙

Our volunteers are the hands and feet of compassion, helping in ways that touch both heart and spirit. From sharing faith and offering encouragement to supporting clerical work and helping during special events, their presence reminds our residents that they are seen, valued, and loved.

Whether it’s a word of prayer, a smile on Mother’s Day, or a helping hand during Thanksgiving, each moment of service becomes a seed of hope that God uses to change lives. 🙏

We’re thrilled to share that one of our Riverside House residents was selected for the LEAP Fellowship Program at NBCU Telemundo Enterprises, a powerful initiative designed to create career pathways and support reintegration for formerly incarcerated individuals.

Our team visited Telemundo’s headquarters for a facility tour and witnessed firsthand the heart behind this fellowship. Their commitment to diversity, equity, and second chances is deeply human.

We’re grateful for partners like Telemundo who believe in unlocking potential, offering opportunity, and helping our residents rediscover purpose through meaningful work.

Because when a door opens, hope walks in. 🙏✨

Our Mission & Vision

Mission: Riverside House exists to guide men and women convicted of crime into becoming productive citizens through a non-denominational, faith-based approach.

Vision: That all individuals, whether imprisoned in mind or spirit, will lead positive and productive lives when given the opportunity to succeed. Riverside House seeks to change the lives of at-risk individuals (regardless of gender or culture) through community and residential programs that emphasize personal accountability, family relationships, and spiritual growth.

We envision a future where the formerly incarcerated are good citizens and neighbors – productive, educated, with strong family and spiritual values, playing an equal role in contributing to a safe and vibrant community.
