Each individual has their own unique story that they bring to the table, which is often shaped by their family, community, cultural or religious heritage.

Culture and community can sometimes be a barrier towards seeking care due to the stigma surrounding mental health. However, mental health struggles do not discriminate. They are ever present in all communities regardless of race, culture, gender, identity, or socioeconomic status.

Spreading awareness and opening up a dialogue around mental health can often provide the safety for someone to access the care they need.

While there are so many benefits to social media, it can also be a mechanism to keep us isolated from real connection.

Connecting with people is key to our survival as social beings. We need people in order to thrive and lead a fulfilling life.

Healthy dependency is the development of intimate and vulnerable relationships where we can lean on and rely on our chosen support system.

For some, the idea of this might seem scary or even foreign. Learning how to be vulnerable is a process.

It’s a process! If you hate your body, it is unrealistic to suddenly jump towards loving it. Thinking about body acceptance as a spectrum can help set realistic goals and create some relief.

Similarly to other mental health struggles, there is a lot of stigma surrounding PTSD and consequently a lot of popular myths that prevent people from getting the help they need.

PTSD does not just impact military personnel, it is not a sign of weakness, nor does it go away over time when untreated.
🌱
PTSD symptoms can include flashbacks, hyper vigilance, avoidance, as well as several other emotional, physical, and relational symptoms.
🌱
If you have experienced a trauma and think you may be struggling with PTSD, support is available to you.
