Miami-based Rishi Snacks takes a modern twist on traditional Indian flavors and snacks, dishing out an elevated snack experience, while offering meaningful employment opportunities to empower individuals with disabilities. 💫🙌🏽🌱

Vijay and Manisha Patel launched Rishi Snacks last year for their 21-year-old autistic son. “A big reason we started was for Rishi to have a purpose in life, to have something he’s contributing to,” says Vijay Patel.

According to the U.S. Labor Department, only 37% of disabled individuals were employed in 2023. Many businesses, large and small, are now working to help fix this, transforming their hiring practices and work environments to be more inclusive and accommodating for people of all abilities.

🌈 Rishi’s Snacks come in 5 flavors, along with 5 nut-free versions. Shop their online shop, retail or wholesale. Or find them on store shelves in Florida, New York and the Carolinas!

Jake n’ Sky are a brother and sister musical duo on a mission to “show the world that having autism, or any other diagnosis, doesn’t mean you aren’t capable of great things. But it does mean you are unique, different and cool!” 🎶🎤🎸

They’ve rocked countless performances, including at Christmas on Las Olas, The Broke Boy Movie Premiere, The Special Olympics, and Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend.

Jake, a 16-year-old musician/songwriter/music producer plays 8 instruments and was on season 15 of America’s Got Talent. He’s performed on The View, Good Morning America, The Steve Harvey Show and alongside Harry Connick Jr. in concert.

Sky, 12, is a singer/songwriter/actor who recently led roles in Mary Poppins and Newsies Jr. She was selected to perform at the Broward County Honors Choir and The Florida All-State Orff Ensemble.

Be sure to check out their latest release, Because of You, available on all streaming services. 🎧💫

Earlier this year, they were also featured in the first ever collaboration album written and produced by 15-self advocate autistic artists from the Flutie Foundation, STARS of the Spectrum.

Dr. Maureen Dunne is a renowned Oxford-trained cognitive scientist, neurodiversity expert and author of The Neurodiversity Edge, “…a groundbreaking new approach for bridging the staggering divide between organizations starved for motivated workers and the enormous untapped talent pool defined by cognitive differences.” 🌱✨

She explores how to navigate what is becoming one of today’s most important human resource revolutions.

"I believe you can have huge success going out of your way to hire people who think differently from you," says Dunne. "We should be looking for those who will bring different perspectives and experiences to our workforce."

Bridging this divide begins in childhood. Dunne also serves as a neurodiversity expert for the LEGO Foundation’s $20 million Play for All global accelerator social impact fund.

“When neurodivergent children are understood, valued, and empowered, everyone benefits from their important, and often, extraordinary contributions,” says Dunne. “Neurodivergent inventors, scientists, and artists have reshaped entire industries.”

With The Neurodivergent Edge, Dunne challenges the flawed paradigm that currently fails to implement neuroinclusion on a grand scale. Drawing from psychology, economics, busines management, philosophy and organizational behavior, she offers a practical roadmap to building and organizational foundation that is truly rooted in authentic neuroinclusion.
