Not all droopy eyelids are the same. Sometimes the issue is excess skin (dermatochalasis). Other times, it’s ptosis, a condition where the eyelid muscle itself is weak, and the lid sits lower than it should.
The difference matters.
• Excess skin may be treated with blepharoplasty
• Ptosis requires repair of the levator muscle
• In some cases, both conditions are present
A proper evaluation includes measurements, muscle testing, and an assessment of how much the eyelid is affecting your vision. The right diagnosis leads to the right treatment — and the most natural, functional result.
