Most people are surprised to learn that Thyroid Eye Disease doesn’t always match what’s happening in your bloodwork.

You can have normal thyroid levels and still develop TED because the immune system targets the tissues around the eyes, causing symptoms like:

- Eyelid swelling
- Redness or irritation
- Light sensitivity
- A “pressure” feeling behind the eyes
- Bulging or prominence of the eyes
- Changes in eyelid position

TED often appears in people with Graves’ disease, but it can also occur with Hashimoto’s or even after thyroid issues seem “under control.”
