My patients love this game.. and I do too! Even the younger kids can have fun making patterns, filling it all up, and the best part... making the pieces fall!

I bought this 3 piece puzzle set when I first started doing therapy back in 2005 😬. It was probably my 1st purchase. I was broke & looking for something inexpensive, colorful, fun, & that I could use to target several goals. It's held up quite nicely and it's still one of my favorites! This picture was taken this week during a therapy session with a 3 year old. Puzzles are my go-to in therapy with all ages...I always have a few in my bag.

I just picked up this old- school board game for my family to play this weekend! It's great for strategy & cognitive skills. Highly recommend 😁

Playing board games is one of my favorite things to do in therapy with my patients! I carry Candyland & Chutes & Ladders for the little ones plus Connect Four, Operation, and checkers for the older kids... just to name a few. Unfortunately,  with tablets & videogames hogging up all their time...kids don't spend much time, if any,  on boardgames. The other day I was talking to my patient's little sister (age 6) about Candy land & she had never heard of it.  She literally had no idea what a board game even was ☹. Soooo...my advice to parents is to dig up their old games or go get some new ones. Turn off the screens & make it a family thing on the weekends.  You may get some initial resistance but they'll get on 'board'. LOL... sorry for the bad pun 🙄😁

There's no need to spend a lot of $$ on fancy toys to improve your child's language skills. However... this was on sale & I couldn't resist 🤷‍♀️. As you can see... the entire family is enjoying it ! 🤣😂

Although it can be messy, as you can see from this picture 🙄, baking and cooking is a great way to develop your child's language skills 🥳! It teaches them to follow directions, improves reading skills, introduces new words, & sequencing. And as a bonus: helps with math, creativity, & can be fun! It can also promote a healthy lifestyle (depending on what you're making, of course 😏 ). Not to mention, learning your way around a kitchen is an important life skill. So make the time to cook with your child... it will be worth it! 🍪🍳👩‍🍳👨‍🍳🍴😁

Memorial Day is more than just a day off from school. This federal holiday is a way to honor military members who have died in the line if duty. Although death can be a difficult topic, don't be afraid to have an open, age-appropriate discussion with your child about why this holiday is so important.

CAS is a complex disorder which can be difficult to diagnose. If your child has any of these signs, please get them evaluated by a Speech Language Pathologist. Even if it isn't CAS, therapy may be needed.
