Celebrating 106 incredible years 🎉
Ruth Williams marked her special day surrounded by family and friends, filling the room with love, laughter, and her favorite music.

Her niece, Barbara Thompson, along with her son Rudy, joined in the celebration. Barbara shared how impressed they are with the staff and service at Miami Jewish Health, and that Ms. Williams feels the same. She also expressed how blessed they are to have her, and we feel truly honored to celebrate such a remarkable milestone with Ms. Williams.

Miami Jewish Health and McDowell Housing Partners proudly celebrated the ribbon-cutting of Douglas Gardens Senior Health and Living, the largest affordable housing development in Broward County. This brand new 410-unit community combines residential units with on-site healthcare services available through Florida PACE Centers, the state’s largest Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), under one campus in Pembroke Pines. Prospective residents can choose between eight different floorplans, featuring wood flooring, granite countertops, impact windows and washer and dryer.
 
The $139 million development represents a landmark achievement in Florida’s affordable housing landscape. With 63% of Broward seniors not meeting the ALICE threshold (the minimum income level needed to afford basic necessities - housing, food, transportation, and healthcare - without public assistance), access to affordable housing and healthcare is more important than ever.
 
“The affordability crisis does not discriminate based on age. South Florida’s seniors face tremendous challenges as they often live on low fixed incomes,” said Jeffrey Freimark, President and CEO of Miami Jewish Health. “Being able to build a community that directly addresses the need for comfortable, safe, and cost-effective housing, combined with a comprehensive health program like Florida PACE Centers, is a necessity and something we are proud of.”

Happy National Take Your Child to Work Day!

Today we welcomed the next generation to Miami Jewish Health for a day full of hands-on experiences and meaningful moments. It was a great opportunity for them to see where their parents work and experience firsthand the care, compassion, and dedication that goes into supporting our seniors every day.

From a CPR class and campus tours to art class with our residents, the day was filled with learning, connection, and plenty of smiles. We ended it all with sweet treats and even sweeter memories.

This day is not only about remembrance, but about responsibility. It calls on us to honor those who were lost, stand against hatred and antisemitism in all forms, and ensure that future generations never forget the consequences of silence and indifference.
