March is Brain Injury Awareness Month 🧠 — and stroke is one of its leading causes.

Over 800,000 people have a stroke every year in the US. Many survive. Many live with effects that aren't always visible: memory gaps, fatigue, emotional shifts.

This month, we're dedicating our content to the connection between stroke and brain health — prevention, recovery, and everything in between.

Did you know your brain can "rewire" itself?

After a stroke, many functions can be lost, but thanks to neuroplasticity, healthy neurons can learn to do the work of the damaged ones.

It's not magic, it's training.

Every repetition in therapy, every attempt at movement, is building a new bridge in your brain. Recovery is a marathon, not a sprint.

Tag that warrior fighting their way through recovery.

Understanding your HbA1c score is one of the most important steps in protecting your long-term health.

Blood glucose control is one of the American Heart Association’s Life’s Essential 8 — a set of key measures proven to improve cardiovascular and brain health. When glucose levels remain elevated over time, blood vessels can become damaged, increasing the risk of stroke.

At the Florida Stroke Registry, we use real-world data from hospitals across the state to better understand vascular risk factors like diabetes and how they impact stroke outcomes. Through research, education, and quality improvement initiatives, we work to translate this data into action — helping improve care for all Floridians.

Know your numbers. Manage your risk. Protect your brain.

Happy Valentine's Day! ❤️

Today we celebrate love in all its forms. But remember: to be able to love, care for, and share with others, you first need to be well yourself.

That's the best gift you can give those around you: more time with yourself.

High cholesterol often has no symptoms — but its impact on your arteries is real.

Managing cholesterol is one of the most powerful steps you can take to reduce stroke risk. Limiting processed foods and saturated fats, choosing heart-healthy options like fish, olive oil, nuts, and avocado, and following your prescribed medications when needed can help protect your brain and your heart.

Controlling blood lipids is also part of Life’s Essential 8, the American Heart Association’s key recommendations for improving cardiovascular health.

Small, consistent choices add up.

Talk to your healthcare provider about your numbers and take control of your vascular health today.

Today is International Epilepsy Day 💜 and it's important to talk about its link to stroke.

Many people don't know that after surviving a stroke, the brain can become more sensitive to electrical activity, triggering epileptic seizures even months after the event.

If you're caring for someone who has had a stroke, swipe to learn what to look out for. 👉

Cholesterol doesn’t cause symptoms—until it causes damage.

Over time, excess cholesterol can build up inside arteries, narrowing blood flow and increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke.
What starts silently can end suddenly.

Understanding your numbers, managing risk factors, and making small lifestyle changes can protect your arteries long before problems appear.

Because vascular health is long-term health.
