Miami DDA The Miami Downtown Development Authority grows & strengthens the economic health of Downtown Miami.

The Miami Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is committed to improving the quality of life for businesses, employees, residents, and visitors in downtown Miami. As an independent agency of the City of Miami, the Miami DDA supports business growth, infrastructure improvements, and services for Downtown Miami residents and stakeholders. In addition to its programs and initiatives, the Miami DDA is partnering with the City and other government entities to strengthen Downtown Miami’s position as an international center for commerce, culture, and tourism. The organization is governed by a 15-member board comprised of three public appointees and 12 downtown property owners, residents and/or workers. Two new spaces. One connected community.

The Connect Spot and Play Spot have officially broken ground, transforming the land below the Metromover into vibrant destinations for residents, families, and visitors alike.

🌳 The Connect Spot, located between the College Bayside and First Street Metromover stations, will feature native greenery, lighting, and walking paths perfect for events, workouts, or simply enjoying the outdoors.

🛝 The Play Spot, underneath the Metromover and next to the river, will bring a nature-based playground, seating, and shaded areas designed for families and children to gather and play.

Part of a larger effort led by , these projects, along with the Dog Spot, will enhance mobility, promote sustainability, and create new opportunities in the heart of our District.

Join the Miami DDA as we kick off the season with the lighting of a 24-foot Christmas tree decked out in thousands of sparkling lights and a vibrant, Miami-inspired design.

Enjoy a free live performance from the Orchestra alongside students from the New World School of the Arts, plus a kids’ zone with a bounce house, popcorn, cotton candy, face painting, and a special visit from Santa Claus!

For years, the Miami DDA has proudly supported and promoted safe, family-friendly Halloween events that bring our community together.

This year, our Downtown Ambassadors will be back out spreading the spooky fun and handing out candy to trick-or-treaters across the District.

This 9-week, free pre-accelerator empowers participants to turn their ideas into investment-ready ventures. Through workshops, mentorship, and networking, 30 local founders are building, growing, and preparing to pitch their ventures to investors, local leaders, and business partners at Demo Day this December.

Day 22: Through our advocacy at the state and local level, the Miami DDA has helped secure more than $12.8 million over the past seven years to fund projects that improve safety, infrastructure, and quality of life across the District.

From mental health services to transportation and infrastructure projects, these investments are shaping a more resilient community for everyone.

✔️ Mental Health & Recovery
Since 2019, the Miami DDA has helped fund the Involuntary Outpatient Demonstration Services (IOS) Project, an innovative program led by Judge Steve Leifman that provides individuals with access to treatment and supportive services to promote recovery and long-term stability.

Building on the success of this effort, the Miami DDA helped secure $10 million in County funding in 2022 to support the development of the Miami Center for Mental Health & Recovery, a facility designed to expand access to critical mental health services across the community.
