We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Nancy Pook, M.D., who has been awarded the 2025 Distinguished Physician Service Award by the Kettering Medical Staff. This honor is reserved for a physician who has demonstrated 25 years of dedicated service, exceptional leadership, and meaningful contributions to resident education, which are all qualities Dr. Pook exemplifies.

Dr. Pook is deeply deserving of this recognition. Her tireless commitment extends far beyond her work in the emergency department. Her leadership in resident teaching, the inception and continued guidance of the Operating Command Center, and the creation and implementation of the PAUSE program represent just a few of the many initiatives that will have had a lasting impact on the medical staff and the Dayton community.

We are especially grateful for her steady mentorship and the support she so generously offers to others.

Matthew Kasher, MD has received the Kettering Health Dayton Physician Heart of Change Award.

Since joining our EM Specialists in August 2020, Dr. Kasher has demonstrated exceptional clinical skill and compassion in every encounter. Board certified in Emergency Medicine, he approaches each patient with professionalism, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a difference.

Nominated by a grateful patient and family, Dr. Kasher was recognized for the attentive care that they believe saved their loved one’s life. In a moment of uncertainty, he took the time to truly listen, explain, and collaborate with other specialists to ensure the patient received the care they needed. His calm presence and clear communication brought comfort during a difficult time, reflecting the very best of what it means to serve in emergency medicine.
