💖 Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us at SLI 💖

Today we just want to say something simple and important.
We love you.

To our students, we love your curiosity, your big ideas, your laughter, and the way you light up when you discover something new. Watching you grow is the best part of what we do.

To our families, thank you for trusting us, partnering with us, and cheering alongside us. We see you and we appreciate you more than you know.

To our supporters, volunteers, and community, your kindness and belief in our mission make everything possible. We feel that love every single day.

SLI is more than a program. It is a community built on care, encouragement, and showing up for each other.

From our staff to all of you, thank you for letting us be part of your journey. We are so grateful for you today and every day. ❤️

With love,
Mari, Abby H. , Abby S., and Penny

🍯🫐 Learning about nutrition never tasted so good! 🫐🍯

Today our students explored how everyday foods can fuel our bodies and still feel like a treat. With Greek yogurt, fresh blueberries, honey, and rice cakes, we learned that building a snack can be both nutritious and delicious. Proof that learning life skills can be hands-on, fun, and yes… pretty sweet.

At SLI, we love turning lessons into real-life moments that help our students grow in confidence and independence one bite at a time 💛

Good morning, 2026! We’re stepping into this brand new year with full hearts, fresh energy, and so much excitement for what’s ahead. Our students bring the joy, the laughter, and the magic that make SLI feel like a second home, and we can’t wait to keep building memories with them this year.

To our families, staff, supporters, and friends - thank you for being part of our story. Your kindness and encouragement carry us into the new year with hope and purpose.

Here’s to new opportunities, new adventures, and another year of growth and connection.

What an incredible night! ✨🪩

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Glitter Ball Bingo and helped make it such a success. We had a full room, nonstop smiles, and so many wonderful moments of connection. The energy was joyful from start to finish, and it truly felt like a celebration of our community.

Thank you for showing up, having fun, and being part of something special. We hope you had as much fun as we did, and we look forward to seeing you again at future events!

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Pat, Kat, Kendra, and Robin for spending their time with us today to help prepare for Glitter Ball Bingo. These four showed up with energy, positivity, and a “tell me what needs done” attitude and we could not be more grateful.

What makes it even more special? They’re family members of our staff, and they chose to support us simply because they care. Their selfless willingness to jump in, roll up their sleeves, and help bring our vision to life is something we don’t take for granted.

To Pat, Kat, Kendra, and Robin: thank you for showing up, for supporting our team, and for proving that community often starts with family.

And to our SLI families and friends who came out to play bingo tonight, thank you. Your presence, enthusiasm, and support remind us why we do what we do. Seeing you fill the room with laughter and connection means everything.

To everyone who helped set up, showed up, or cheered us on: we appreciate you more than you know.

Our Story

The Social and Learning Institute offers a unique educational experience for the intellectually disabled adult. No longer eligible to attend public school programs and seeking other options for services in La Porte County, these individuals often need continuing growth and engagement in order to live a more fully integrated life and to achieve their dreams.
