At Swanson Center, our administrative professionals are often the first voice someone hears and the first step in getting help.

Thank you for the care, patience, and consistency you bring each day. You keep everything moving and help make sure people feel welcomed and supported from the very start.

We’re truly grateful for all that you do!

What does a “good day” look like for you?
For some, it’s feeling calm. For others, it’s just getting through.
There’s no one definition—and that’s okay.
Let us know in the comments: We want to know what a good day looks like for you.
At Swanson Center, we meet people where they are—because everyone deserves more good days.

Thank you to Dunebrook, Inc. and Family Advocates for working together to host the second annual Partners in Prevention Child Abuse Awareness Breakfast. What an amazing opportunity to learn about resources available in our area, hear from amazing speakers, and to provide information to the professionals who work to protect children and strengthen families in our area each and every day.

We are grateful and honored to have partnered with La Porte High School and Austyn Kelso to train 235 students during the months of February and early March in teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA).
tMHFA teaches young people how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among their friends and peers. It does not teach them to diagnose. The tMHFA course discusses topics such as mental health and substance use challenges, mental health crises (including su***de), violence and bullying.
National surveys and other studies show that young people will turn to their friends for support before approaching a parent, sibling, significant other, teacher, online service or professional/school service.
This training teaches young people ages 14-18 (high school aged) the skills they need to recognize and help their friends with mental health and substance use challenges and crises and how to get the help of a trusted adult quickly.

We’re grateful to the Juvenile Services Center for the opportunity to provide Youth Mental Health First Aid training at the Dunes Health Foundation in LaPorte. It was a privilege for us to work with your team and share tools to support youth in our community.

March is National Social Work Month. We want to take the time to recognize the people doing some of the hardest, most important work out there.

This year’s theme is Uplift, Defend, Transform — and honestly, that’s just a normal Tuesday for a social worker.

Thank you to every social worker who shows up, fights for people, and keeps going even when the work is heavy. You make a real difference.

Thank you to the folks over at Family Resource Center La Porte County, Indiana and LadyBug Laundromat for putting together the free laundry days events for our community!

Hey Hey Hey! Everybody's favorite day ( well at least ours) We know nobody likes laundry, but when you can come hang out with some of the coolest people in town over at LadyBug Laundromat and do your laundry for free (2 large loads or 3 small loads) Then why not? We always have a good time.

Last week, Swanson Center joined mental health leaders and advocates from across Indiana at the Indiana Council of Community Mental Health Centers’ 2026 Legislative Day — an important opportunity to bring the conversation about behavioral health directly to state leaders.

CEO Katie Jasnieski and Director of Clinical Services Christine Cuddeback represented our organization, meeting with legislators and partners to discuss the realities facing community mental health providers and the continued need for accessible, reliable care throughout Indiana.

The day included conversations inside the Statehouse, moments with fellow advocates, and discussions focused on strengthening the systems that support individuals and families across our region.

While mental health policy can feel complex, at its core it’s about people — and ensuring every Hoosier has the opportunity to receive the care they need. We’re proud to stand as advocates.

It’s not always easy to know how to respond when someone is having a difficult time. With a little guidance, though, reaching out can feel more natural and supportive.

QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) su***de-prevention training helps everyday community members recognize signs that someone may be struggling, respond in a caring way, and connect them with appropriate support. The goal is simple: help people feel more confident offering compassion and help when it matters most.
