🎄 Helping Kids Stay Healthy During the Holidays! 🎄
The holiday season brings excitement, family time, and plenty of fun—but it can also mean more germs and winter illnesses for little ones. At Middlesboro ARH Pediatrics, we want to help your child stay healthy, happy, and active all season long.
Here are a few simple tips to keep kids well during the winter months:
✨ Encourage frequent handwashing—especially after playing and before meals.
✨ Make sure children get plenty of rest to help support their immune systems.
✨ Keep them hydrated with water throughout the day.
✨ Teach kids to cover coughs and sneezes to reduce the spread of germs.
If your child needs care this winter, Dr. Katherine Ebsworth-Mojica, Pediatrician at Middlesboro ARH, is here to help with compassionate, reliable care close to home.

Scripture: Luke 2:10
*"But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.’"

Reflection:
The shepherds were ordinary people, yet they were the first to hear the announcement of Christ’s birth. The angel’s message was not just for the elite—it was for everyone. The good news of Jesus brings joy that transcends circumstances. This joy is rooted in the truth that God is with us, and His love is for all.

Prayer:
God of joy, thank You for the good news of Jesus. Help me to receive it with gladness and share it freely with others this Christmas. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

After an extraordinary 34 years of dedicated service as a registered nurse, Middlesboro ARH proudly congratulates Vicki York Thompson on her well-deserved retirement.

Vicki’s career is a remarkable story of service and leadership. From med/surg to 27 years in the Emergency Department, critical care, informatics, risk compliance, and quality, to her most recent 7 years serving as Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), NE-BC at Middlesboro ARH — her knowledge, commitment to patient safety, and passion for nursing excellence have made a lasting impact on our hospital and our community.

Throughout her tenure, Vicki has been a trusted leader, mentor, and advocate, guiding teams with integrity, compassion, and faith. The culture she helped build and the lives she touched will continue to reflect her influence for years to come.

As Vicki begins this next chapter — spending time teaching music, gardening, caring for family, and pursuing meaningful endeavors — we wish her joy, peace, and fulfillment in all that lies ahead.

Thank you, Vicki, for 34 incredible years of service. You will always be part of the Middlesboro ARH family. 💙

Scripture: Luke 2:7
"She gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them."

Reflection:
The King of Kings was born in a stable. His humble entrance into the world reminds us that God meets us in the low places. Christmas is not about grandeur—it’s about grace. Jesus came not to impress, but to embrace.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for choosing humility. Teach me to find You in the simple, quiet moments and to serve others with the same heart. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

ARH NEWS RELEASE – ARH Residency Program Celebrates 100% Board Pass Rate for the Class of 2025

Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) is proud to announce that all four members of the ARH Internal Medicine Residency Program’s class of 2025 have successfully passed their board certification exams on their first attempt. This mark of distinction demonstrates the exceptional dedication of these individuals and the strength of the residency program.

Passing boards on the first time is considered a significant accomplishment in the medical field. A strong board pass rate reflects not only the quality of a residency program’s training and education, but also shows prospective residents that they will receive a rigorous and supportive clinical experience.

“We are incredibly proud of our graduating residents,” said Dr. L. Bart Francis, ARH Internal Medicine Program Director and board-certified internal medicine physician. “Passing a rigorous, standardized certification exam administered by a recognized medical specialty board demonstrates comprehensive knowledge in diagnosing and treating complex adult illnesses. It is a widely recognized credential that indicates the physician is committed to high-quality care and professionalism. Research has shown that patients cared for by board-certified physicians often have better health outcomes.”
