Our November Tough Friends Art Club workshops were an absolute blast! We gathered with more than 130 young adult cancer friends from 28 states to create the cutest Air Dry Clay Minis together. 🧁🐕🍰

Between the creative energy, the trivia, the music, and all the laughs, these sessions had the best vibe (check). See what we did there? Also, those clay minis? Absolutely unforgettable.

We’re grateful for every opportunity to spend time with this community. These workshops always remind us how special it is to connect, make art, and just hang out together.

Huge thanks to our incredible partners Gilda's Club Middle Tennessee and Chelsey Gomez (OhYoureSoTough), along with our generous sponsors Bobby Menges - "I'm Not Done Yet" Foundation and Tennessee Arts Commission for making these workshops possible. 💛

More Tough Friends Art Club sessions are on the way—stay tuned!

Living with cancer affects your mind, body, and spirit, particularly when it’s advanced and impacting your quality of life as well as impacting your caregivers.
Palliative care can help alleviate some of the stress and burden of advanced cancer by providing expertise and care in symptom management, caring for mind and spirit, and helping you and your family navigate difficult decisions and conversations.
Join us for an informal discussion about what palliative care is, how it can help you, and ways you can access palliative care support in your community.

All are welcome. Light refreshments will be offered.

I was eight years old when cancer first entered my life. On March 24, 1992, my dad told us he had cancer, and even though I didn’t understand it then, that moment would go on to shape so much of who I am today.

My dad went on to battle multiple cancers, and unfortunately, so did my mom. I lost my dad to cancer in December 2020 and my mom in December 2023.

But a little about my parents. They were funny, joyful, and made life feel full even in the hardest moments. Before family pictures, my dad would yell, “JC Penny catalog pose!” and suddenly we’d all break into cheesy smiles, pretend waves, or dramatic stares into the distance. We knew exactly what to do, and we laughed every time.

They taught me that strength isn’t about pretending things are easy. It’s about choosing to keep going and making the best of each moment.

Caring for them through their battles was incredibly difficult. After my dad passed away and while I was still caring for my mom, I completely wore myself down. That’s when I realized I couldn’t do it all alone, so I joined a support group for caregivers at Gilda’s Club.
