Happy Earth Day from Gilda's Club Wisconsin!

We celebrate our earth year-round through Everyday Adventures. These adventures include guided hikes, canoeing, equine experiences, foraging, and so much more. They provide a space of grounding and healing. Through the power of nature, anyone touched by cancer can find a space to reconnect with themselves and others.

These adventures are made possible by our Giving Tuesday donors. To see what Everyday Adventures are coming up, visit our website: https://tinyurl.com/everydayadventureswithgildas

We’re so grateful for the opportunity to share a little more about the heart behind Gilda’s Club Wisconsin. 💛

A huge thank you to our incredible partners at WKOW 27, to Lee Acker, Pam Klein and to our friends at the Levy Giving Fund for making this segment on Live It Up with Lee & Friends possible.

This conversation gave us the chance to talk about something really meaningful- our evolution into Gilda's Club Wisconsin, the growing need for our programs, and why community matters so deeply when cancer shows up.

Every day, we see how connection, support, and spaces to just be can make all the difference for individuals and families facing cancer. We’re proud to share that story, and even more grateful for the partners who help amplify it.

Because when cancer shows up, community should too.

Getting cancer care in rural areas is a challenge all over the country. Wisconsin has some great small clinics providing care. We offer support, education, and community to those same people from any where in the state. Emotional support is a crucial part of cancer care, it reduces aloneness, and reminds people they are not alone.

As cancer care becomes both more advanced and more specialized, options in rural areas have shrunk.

We’ve officially sprung into the season, and we couldn’t have done it without our amazing friends at Springs Window Fashions!🌷🧼

A huge thank you to the Springs team for spending their Wednesday morning with us for a little “spring cleaning” around the Clubhouse. From freshening up spaces to rolling up their sleeves for whatever was needed, their energy and teamwork made a big impact (and made it a lot more fun, too).

We’re also so grateful for the opportunity to offer a clubhouse tour to the team and share more about the heart behind Gilda’s Club Wisconsin and the work happening inside our red doors. Those moments of connection and learning are just as meaningful as the hands-on help.

And this is just one piece of a much bigger partnership 💛

Thank you to Springs Window Fashions for also supporting our 2026 Backyard BBQ as a sponsor this year, and for the many ways your team continues to show up for our community.

This is what it looks like when a corporate partnership truly works:
✨ Teams coming together for hands-on, meaningful experiences
✨ Businesses investing in the health and well-being of their community
✨ Real connections that go beyond a single day or event

Together, we’re building stronger teams, connections, and community.

“We were a pretty normal family,” shares Tim, Gilda's Club member. Tim and Kristin are parents to two young boys, Grady and Rhys. A few years ago, Rhys was in daycare, and Grady was in First Grade.

Then, suddenly, normally active Grady struggled to catch his breath during a family hike. Kristin can still recall the day they went to the ER vividly…how the doctor asked if they could see her in the hall to give the test results. Then she heard those dreaded words: her child had cancer.

You understand the fear and helplessness that come with hearing the words, “You have cancer.” Whether you yourself have heard those words, or you’ve been told a loved one has a diagnosis…it changes your world. Your gift today can help provide emotional support and community to Wisconsinites touched by cancer when they need it most.

And, until May 15th, your gift will be matched for twice the impact! Thanks to a generous group of donors, the first $13,000 in gifts will be matched and go twice as far. Your gift of $100 could provide 3 months of care and support for someone impacted by cancer!

“Coming to Family Night meant Grady could be a normal kid in the rest of his life,” shares Tim. “Grady would come back from Family Night a different kid.”

Thank you to everyone who has already supported the spring match challenge! Your support means that anyone, that anyone, at any age, whether they heard “you have cancer” recently, or are working to find their new normal…can find a place of connection and understanding.

There’s something special about a day on the course when it means a little more.

Join us for Gilda’s Club Wisconsin’s Red Doors Golf Outing on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Nakoma Golf Club, where great golf meets an even greater purpose.

Known as The Best Tasting Round of Golf, this one-of-a-kind event brings together 18 holes of play with incredible on-course food and beverage tastings, meaningful connections, and a shared commitment to ensuring that no one faces cancer alone.

Every swing, every stop, and every shared moment helps fund free cancer support programs for individuals and families across Wisconsin. Because even in a solo sport like golf, you still have your caddy and community.

Whether you’re gathering a team, entertaining clients, or looking to align your business with a mission that truly matters, there’s a place for you here.

Foursomes offer a memorable day on a private course paired with exceptional local flavors.

Sponsorships provide meaningful visibility while directly supporting a community that shows up for each other every single day.

Spots fill quickly, so we encourage you to secure your team or sponsorship early.

Register your foursome or explore sponsorship opportunities today at
bit.ly/gildasgolf or email Taylor@gildasclubwi.org.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about the scorecard, it’s about showing up for those who need it most.

“We’re there for each other. It’s a safe space,” shares Kim, a regular attendee of the new LGBTQIA+ Cancer Support Group. The group meets virtually every month for all those who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community and have a cancer diagnosis.

It’s one of three support groups recently created in response to member feedback. There is no one-size-fits-all cancer experience, and these additional groups create new spaces for members to share their unique experiences with others who understand.

In addition to the LGBTQIA+ Cancer Support Group, there is also an Early-Stage Cancer Support and Recurrent & Metastatic Cancer Support. The three groups are in addition to our weekly support groups and 10 other monthly groups.
