We are happy to be able to offer our smallest patients protection against RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) through the injectable medication, Beyfortus. RSV is a highly contagious virus that is one of the major causes of infant hospitalizations each winter.
Beyfortus is an injectable antibody that offers protection against RSV during the winter season. It is given to babies who are under 8 months old, entering their first RSV season, or born during RSV season (October through March). It may also be given to older babies who are at higher risk of developing complications from RSV due to underlying health problems such as heart or lung conditions.
Beyfortus is now available in our office during routine well checks for babies. If your baby will not be having a routine well check during the months of October or November, please call our office to schedule a separate appointment to receive the injection. In addition, if your baby will turn 8 months old in October and you would like them to receive Beyfortus, please call us so we can administer a dose while they still qualify.
