Trauma is not stored only in memory or thoughts. Neuroscience shows it is also held within the nervous system itself. This insight changes how healing is understood, because it explains why talking alone sometimes helps but does not fully resolve the body’s stress response.

Biologically, trauma can keep the nervous system stuck in survival mode. The brain and body remain on high alert, even when danger is no longer present. Heart rate, muscle tension, breathing patterns, and stress hormones adapt to protect the body, but over time this state becomes exhausting. Simply understanding the trauma does not always signal the nervous system that it is safe again.

Physical movement plays a key role because the nervous system learns through sensation and action. Gentle movement, stretching, rhythmic activity, or coordinated exercise sends new signals to the brain. These signals help recalibrate how the body responds to stress. Movement activates pathways that support regulation, balance, and safety, allowing the nervous system to shift out of constant defense.

Psychologically, this explains why people may still feel tense or reactive even after years of talking through experiences. The body needs experiences that contradict the trauma pattern. Movement creates those experiences by showing the nervous system that it can move, breathe, and respond without threat.

Importantly, this does not diminish the value of therapy. Talking builds awareness and meaning. Movement completes the process by engaging the body where trauma is stored. Together, they support more complete healing.

This understanding is empowering. Healing is not about forcing the mind to move on. It is about giving the nervous system new information through safe, supportive experiences.

🔥 Inflammation may be silent—but its impact is powerful. 🌱

Linked to heart disease, diabetes, and autoimmune disorders, it’s one of the body’s biggest warning signs.

Dr. Shilpa Ravella reminds us that the best defense starts in the gut: eat a wide variety of plants to fight inflammation from the inside out. 💚

👉 Let food be your first step toward healing.

Removing saturated fat from the diet and substituting it with avocado may lead to a significant drop in cholesterol and triglycerides. But simply adding avocado without also reducing saturated animal fat does not appear to result in any benefits to cholesterol.

Any time you lower your intake of saturated fat in your diet, you’re going to lower your LDL cholesterol—whether you replace animal fats with plant-based fats or carbohydrates.
🥑 What if you replace animal fat with avocado? Avocados can reduce both large, fluffy LDL cholesterol and the small, dense LDL cholesterol too.

All LDL cholesterol negatively impacts our health, so we want to drop it regardless, but small, dense LDL is the worst.

Putting people on a plant-based diet with specific cholesterol-lowering components, such as nuts, soy, and viscous-fiber-containing foods, can lead to a massive 30% drop in LDL, which is comparable to a cholesterol-lowering statin drug. This reduction includes a drop in the small, dense LDL, too.

In the famed PREDIMED study, people randomized to get extra nuts showed a significant drop in their small LDL, while those randomized to extra virgin olive oil did not. There appears to be some special components in nuts that lower the worst of the worst LDL.

When it comes to lowering cholesterol, it’s not just a matter of replacing animal fat with any kind of plant fat. You get added benefits with whole plant foods, like avocados and nuts, because of the added benefits of their fiber and phytonutrients.

Scientists at Mount Sinai have unveiled a bold new way to fight metastatic cancer by turning the tumor’s own defenses against it. Instead of attacking cancer cells head-on, the experimental immunotherapy targets macrophages—immune cells that tumors hijack to shield themselves from attack.

By eliminating or reprogramming these “bodyguards,” the treatment cracks open the tumor’s protective barrier and allows the immune system to flood in and destroy the cancer.

I’ve upgraded to luxury living because I’m staying with family who has POWER. 🔌✨
Which means… I found myself standing in front of an actual oven today like some kind of pioneer who just discovered fire.

So naturally, I went full fine-dining mode and turned appetizers into a meal. Because that’s how I live. Today’s plan? Stuff myself absolutely silly with these vegan stuffed mushrooms. 🍄😏
Crispy, savory, and proof that once you have electricity again, you immediately forget all restraint.

Are they meant to be a side? Sure.
Will I be eating the entire tray like it’s dinner? Also yes.
No regrets. Zero shame. Full mushroom commitment. 💪😂

If you, too, want to live dangerously (or just need an excuse to eat 12 stuffed mushrooms in one sitting), you know where the recipe is (c*mm*nts)👇

Power really does change a person. 🔥🍄😎

💘 The Ultimate Vegan Valentine’s Day Celebration 💘
(aka: Love, but make it plant-based… and slightly rebellious)

Let’s just say the quiet part out loud: Valentine’s Day is basically a Hallmark-sponsored bake sale for grownups. 💌💸

Look, no shade. If you love it, lean in. Buy the card. Light the candles. Do the thing.
But if you’re flying solo, congratulations 🎉 you’re officially invited to S.A.D. (Singles Awareness Day).

Back in the day, my wife and I decided to rebel against the bogus money-making sham and hosted singles at our house instead. Good food. No pressure. No overpriced roses dying on the counter by Tuesday. Revolutionary, I know. 😏

Whether you’re coupled, single, or just here for the food (the correct choice), this collection has everything you need:
🍫 Chocolate
🍓 Sweet stuff
🍝 Cozy comfort food
❤️ Zero awkward prix fixe menus

No reservations. No guilt. No, “this better be romantic or else.”
Just really good vegan food.

But hey… You do you. 😉

😂 💚
