On Monday, 11/24, Valley Central Prevention Specialist Natalie Gatto held a Spin the Wheel at Valley Central High School. Over 300 students engaged with the table, and she had 12 student volunteers to assist with the event! The students (and some staff) were asked questions about themselves that inspired positive thinking and coping strategies. Prizes were given to anyone who participated! One student even told her that β€œthis was the reason I came to school today”. We are so lucky to do this work!

Our Story

The Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) is in the business of providing hope. Formed in 1972 by concerned community members as a voluntary, non-profit membership organization, ADAC was established as a full time, professionally staffed organization in 1986. Our purpose remains true to its roots: to educate the public about alcohol and substance use disorders as treatable diseases that effect individuals, families and communities, advocating on behalf of people with substance use disorder, and preventing the initiation and use of substances by youth and misuse by adults through education and information dissemination. We provide services throughout Orange County for: information and referrals to treatment, intervention services, recovery coaching, STOP DWI & Traffic Safety Programs, family support navigation services, Treatment Alternative for Safer Communities (TASK) Program, community and school based prevention, the Mid-Hudson Prevention Resource Center and The School of Addiction Studies: CASAC and Recovery Coach Training.
