Roots participants have been having a great time learning about Shabbat! This week, we learned about Shabbat and havdalah— the service that marks the end of Shabbat.

We did our own havdalah service and got to make Shabbat paintings!

Last month, JFS Orange staff members Gillian Dirr and Cori Blank, along with JFS Board Member Matthew Goetz, were honored to attend the Warwick Heart of the Community Volunteer Event held at the Wickham Woodlands Manor in Warwick, NY.

The Warwick Friendly Visitor Program and JFS Orange have had a long standing partnership to provide support for seniors living in Greenwood Lake, Warwick, and Florida who need assistance with transportation, grocery shopping, and socialization via wellness calls and at-home visits. All services are provided by incredible volunteers at no cost to the senior.

We would like to extend our deepest thanks to Jesse Dwyer, the Town of Warwick Supervisor, Michael Newhard, the Village of Warwick Mayor, the Orange County Office for the Aging, and our incredible staff members and advisory board members for helping this program thrive.

Special thanks to the Hudson Valley Event Group for sponsoring this event by providing music and a photo booth, Newhard’s for sponsoring a gift basket, and Vincent of Warwick for sponsoring a gift. Your dedication to our community is truly valued and appreciated!

If you’re looking to get involved in this program, please reach out for volunteer opportunities. Please contact Paula Blumenau at (845) 341-1173 x305!
