This week we celebrated National Long Term Care Administrator’s Week- honoring Joan and Cindy.

Their work often happens behind the scenes- but the impact is felt by residents, families, and employees alike. Whether guiding us through complex healthcare regulations, or driving staff through a blizzard to make sure care continues uninterrupted- Joan and Cindy always go above and beyond!

Thank you both for your unwavering commitment šŸ’™

What a treat! Blake Ruehrwein and Rob Doane from the Naval War College Museum visited John Clarke Senior Living today, offering residents a virtual tour of the museum along with a hands‑on look at several uniforms and military caps from their collection.

Residents learned some great trivia too — like the fact that the classic white Navy hats are called ā€œDixie cup caps.ā€ And did you know the Naval War College Museum sits on Coasters Harbor Island, a site that once housed Newport’s Asylum for the Poor and even served as overflow space for local jails?

Blake told us to look for ship models in museums and noted that the US Navy owns thousands of models. They even have people who build them, whittling them by hand from tree trunks!

We learned about pedal powered submarines and a baseball game U.S. Rear Admiral William S. Sims orchestrated on July 4, 1918 to build morale. The game was held at Stamford Bridge, London, where the U.S. Navy team defeated the Army 2-1.

We hope to attend the game the Naval War College Museum hosts this year!

Thank you Blake and Rob!

šŸ’™ Our CEO and executive director extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible staff that showed up for our residents during the blizzard of 2026.

As our community hunkered down during this recent, severe snowstorm, most of you were safely warm inside your homes. However, a dedicated group of professionals were busy naviĀgating treacherous roads and braving freezing temperatures to ensure our most vulnerable citiĀzens were not abandoned. We ...

Blizzard conditions couldn’t stop our incredible team… ā„ļø

During the state of emergency our nurses, CNAs, dietary, housekeeping, and maintenance staff worked extra shifts, slept on-site, and braved dangerous whiteouts to keep residents safe, warm, and cared for.

When the world stopped, they didn’t.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication and true heroism! šŸ’™

ā¤ļø Love is in the Air at John Clarke Senior Living! ā¤ļø

Our community has been feeling the love all week — from a festive Valentine’s Day dining room to the sweetest handmade cards from the kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport. Residents even enjoyed a delicious spaghetti dinner last night.

Now we’re keeping the love going with our ā€œLove is in the Hairā€ Salon Refresh Campaign. Our on‑campus salon is a place where residents feel pampered, confident, and cared for — and with your help, we can give it the refresh it deserves.

Will you help us make sure Love is in the Hair all year long?
Your gift brings comfort, dignity, and a little extra joy to the older adults who call John Clarke home.

Think your laundry pile is big? Try 30 loads a day!

As the Winter Olympics kick off, we’re thanking John Clarke Trust, Bank of America, N.A., Co-Trustee and NewportFed Charitable Foundation for helping us stay in medal‑winning form with a brand‑new washer.

From 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., our machines never stop. Thanks to a lead grant from the John Clarke Trust, Bank of America, N.A., Co‑Trustee, and a supporting grant from the NewportFed Charitable Foundation, we were able to replace one of our two commercial washing machines.

The machine we replaced is believed to be original to the building — a remarkable run since we opened our doors in 1980. And our team does A LOT of laundry. Two commercial machines run from 6 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., SEVEN DAYS a week, washing bed linens and resident clothing.

We think all of the members of our laundry team deserve gold medals!
