❤️ Love is in the Air at John Clarke Senior Living! ❤️

Our community has been feeling the love all week — from a festive Valentine’s Day dining room to the sweetest handmade cards from the kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport. Residents even enjoyed a delicious spaghetti dinner last night.

Now we’re keeping the love going with our “Love is in the Hair” Salon Refresh Campaign. Our on‑campus salon is a place where residents feel pampered, confident, and cared for — and with your help, we can give it the refresh it deserves.

Think your laundry pile is big? Try 30 loads a day!

As the Winter Olympics kick off, we’re thanking John Clarke Trust, Bank of America, N.A., Co-Trustee and NewportFed Charitable Foundation for helping us stay in medal‑winning form with a brand‑new washer.

From 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., our machines never stop. Thanks to a lead grant from the John Clarke Trust, Bank of America, N.A., Co‑Trustee, and a supporting grant from the NewportFed Charitable Foundation, we were able to replace one of our two commercial washing machines.

The machine we replaced is believed to be original to the building — a remarkable run since we opened our doors in 1980. And our team does A LOT of laundry. Two commercial machines run from 6 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., SEVEN DAYS a week, washing bed linens and resident clothing.

We think all of the members of our laundry team deserve gold medals!

We're glad to read reports that Gravy is "Staying Alive"

A local celebrity is lucky to be alive after a frightening run-in with a vehicle.

Gravy the Turkey, the beloved bird behind the Instagram account , was hit by a car and left badly hurt — but not beaten.

“I’m badly hurt… but I lived. Can’t knock Gravy down. Thank you for a whole year of fun ❤️ Honk to my wife and kids for me. – Gravy,” read a post on his page that quickly had followers in a panic.

Help arrived fast. Middletown Animal Control responded and got the injured bird to professional care, where Gravy is now fighting his way back.

Wildlife rescue group .of.the.birds shared an encouraging update:

“Gravy is with us at Congress of Birds and has gotten a wing wrap, pain meds, and some eye ointment. Fortunately he has no breaks, but he is very very skinny! We’ll be testing him for lead toxicity and he will be with us for quite some time.”

The group says Gravy faces a long recovery and is under close watch. Supporters hoping to help the feisty fowl can donate toward his care through a link on their Instagram page.

For now, the internet-famous turkey who strutted his way into local hearts is proving one thing: you can’t keep Gravy down.

What a treat it was to have students from the Newport Area Career & Technical Center come and pamper our residents with manicures and hand massages last month! The treatments were thoroughly enjoyed by all!
