On day two of our third annual Staff Retreat, we spent the day in Milton setting big goals for 2026 and developing an action plan to bring these ideas to life for our community. We also focused on how we can improve at sharing information as our staff grows and evolves! We cannot thank Mary Catherine Marketing enough for her leadership over the past two days, as well as our entire staff who exchanged ideas and perspectives with open minds 💭 There's nothing better than having a group of coworkers who truly enjoy spending time together. Staff Retreat 2025 ✅

Leaving Day 1 of our Staff Retreat with our cups (and candle jars) full 🕯️We had a productive day at CSC Station strengthening our understanding of how we work individually and as a team, reflecting on member feedback from surveys and one-on-one conversations with our community, and planting the seeds for how we can bring this all together for a more impactful year in 2026. We’re so grateful to also spend this time in person with Mary Catherine Marketing, who not only works with us throughout the year on various projects but is our guide through this retreat. We ended the day with some team-bonding at Make & Mellow just down the road from our office. We’re feeling energized as we head into our final day of the Staff Retreat tomorrow at our Milton Office! ✏️

As Down Syndrome Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re sharing a few words from our community members—Matthew, Laura, and Stuart—about what they want you to know about them and what makes them proud to be exactly who they are. Though October is ending, the conversation doesn’t stop on our side of the internet when it comes to Down syndrome awareness. Thank you for celebrating with us this month and for continuing to advocate for a brighter, more inclusive world for the Down syndrome community.

Many families of children and adults with Down syndrome have been told their loved one “just can’t do this” or that restraint or sedation are the only options to get the care they need like vaccinations, blood draws, dental cleanings and exams – even haircuts. There is a better way. Let us teach you how.

We’re so excited to have partnered with Practice Without Pressure by Power To Marc (PWP) to host a series of live webinars where you’ll learn techniques that build your loved one’s capacity enabling participation in their own care. Four sessions remain in this series:

🖥️ Nov. 11, 7 PM: Toothbrushing & Dental Cleanings
🖥️ Nov. 25, 1 PM: Blood Draws & Vaccinations
🖥️ Dec. 9, 7 PM: Haircuts
🖥️ Dec. 16, 1PM: Toothbrushing & Dental Cleanings

Register for any of these webinars here:https://dsadelaware.org/wp-content/uploads/DSA-DE-Info-Sheet.pdf

When you choose PWP, you’re choosing:
💙A process that respects individuality.
💙A team that believes safety and dignity come first.
💙A philosophy grounded in emotion, trust, and real skill-building.
💙A future where medical, dental, and personal care can be approached with less fear and more success.
