Some good information about current kids health
🌷 Spring is finally here (even though it may not feel like it!!!) — and with the change in weather, we’re also seeing a shift in the illnesses affecting our kids.
The good news? Winter respiratory illnesses are starting to slow down 🙌
The not-so-good news? There’s still some influenza hanging around… ugh.
🤢 Stomach bugs (gastroenteritis) are still making the rounds. We’re getting quite a few calls about kids with vomiting, and sometimes diarrhea and fever as well.
📞 Our nurses are also hearing from LOTS of parents about coughs right now. These can be caused by:
• Spring colds (upper respiratory infections)
• Post-nasal drip from seasonal allergies
• Asthma flare-ups
🌼 Speaking of allergies — they’re in full swing. With warmer temps, blooming trees, and rising pollen counts, we’re seeing more allergy symptoms and asthma flares, especially with all this back-and-forth weather.
👶 A quick reminder: seasonal allergies are rare under age 1, and most kids don’t start showing symptoms until age 2 or older.
Want help figuring out if it’s allergies? This is a great resource from Children's Hospital of Philadelphia:

😷 We’re also seeing more springtime sore throats, including:
• An uptick in strep throat cases
• A few cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease
• And yes — sometimes allergies can cause sore throats too
💡 Bottom line: Spring brings sunshine… but also a mix of viruses, allergies, and asthma triggers. If you’re not sure what’s going on with your child, give us a call — we’re always happy to help! 845.888.2200
