The best way to burn off the stress hormones without having to change your thinking is to move and sweat. Run, dance, jump, ride, swim, stretch, or skip—do something vigorous and lively. Yoga is also fabulous, as it combines movement and breathing.⁣

Most of us hold our breath often or breathe swallow, anxious breaths. Deep, slow, full breaths have a profound effect on resetting the stress response, because the relaxation nerve (or vagus nerve and not the Las Vegas nerve) goes through your diaphragm and is activated with every deep breath. Take five deep breaths now, and observe how differently you feel after.⁣

For the lazy among us (including me), an UltraBath is a secret weapon against stress. Add 2 cups of Epsom salt (which contains magnesium, the relaxation mineral), a half-cup of baking soda, and 10 drops of lavender oil (which lowers cortisol) to a very hot bath. Then, add one stressed human and soak for 20 minutes. Guaranteed to induce relaxation.⁣

Lack of sleep increases stress hormones. Get your eight hours no matter what. Take a nap if you missed your sleep. Prioritize sleep.⁣

Notice how your thinking makes you stressed. Practice taking deep breaths and letting go of worry.

Why People Ignore Social Distancing During a Pandemic - The Atlantic https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theatlantic.com/amp/article/608164/

“These are all understandable human reactions to an overwhelming, highly uncertain crisis. But they are also extremely weak justifications for a choice that ultimately puts one’s short-term social enjoyment ahead of the health—and maybe even lives—of countless people who are more vulnerable to the disease.”

“people tend to underestimate the speed at which exponential processes—such as a disease outbreak—unfold. “You really can’t trust your intuitions,” he said. “For anybody—whether it’s politicians or business leaders, or whoever—who’s been seeing the problem growing and relying on their intuitive feeling for how fast it’s going to grow, they’re going to be in trouble.”

“people who do go out probably overrate their own control over whether they get sick. “One of the ways that we exaggerate [our own power] is not realizing how often we touch our face … and how many other people touch the things that we touch,”

Populations like these are really struggling because they lack the resources to buy the right foods. ⁣

In addition, so many people are confused about what constitutes proper nutrition and have been sold the idea that cheap, fast food benefits them by eliminating the question of what to eat -- meanwhile it has been destroying public health. ⁣

There needs to be work done to level the playing field when it comes to providing healthy food and nutritional resources for people everywhere. ⁣

In light of everything that’s going on & how our daily lives are ever-changing practically ever hour to every day, I will not be taking clients for this week since the biggest request is to self-isolate for right now.

I do not believe I have been in contact with anyone who is sick & appear symptom-free. But to be on the safe side, as requested I’m going to hang low for this week.

I will reassess weekly based on the information being sent out from the CDC, how medical facilities and local news & businesses are responding.

I hope you & yours are doing alright amidst this conundrum.

Thanks for your understanding & take good care of yourself!
