Help Us Celebrate Sindy!

We are sending the biggest (belated) birthday wishes to our incredible therapist, Sindy!

Sindy is a kind, loving, and deeply caring individual who has a true gift for helping others feel safe and comfortable in the therapy process. From the very first session, she works intentionally to create a space where clients feel heard, supported, and understood.

She is EMDR-trained and passionate about helping clients process and heal from trauma in meaningful ways. Sindy has even taken clients into the healing space of Equine Therapy, meeting them where they are and thinking outside the box to ensure they are getting the most out of their therapeutic journey.

She goes above and beyond for her clients, always advocating for their growth, healing, and overall wellbeing. Her dedication, compassion, and heart for this work make her not only an amazing therapist, but also an incredible coworker here at Intuitive Healing Therapy.

We are so grateful to have her on our team.

Please join us in wishing Sindy a very happy birthday and a year filled with joy, growth, and continued impact!

As We Come to the End of Eating Disorder Awareness Week

As we close this week, here is what we hope you understand:
Eating disorders (EDs) are serious mental health conditions, not choices, phases, or about vanity. They involve complex relationships between thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physical health. EDs can affect brain functioning, heart health, hormones, mood regulation, concentration, and relationships.

They often develop from a combination of genetic vulnerability, anxiety, trauma, perfectionism, cultural pressure, and a need for control during overwhelming times.

Eating disorders do not have a “look.”
They affect children, teens, adults, men, women, athletes, parents, people in larger bodies, and high-achieving professionals. You cannot determine if someone is struggling based on weight or appearance alone.

What eating disorders can look like:
• Skipping meals or eating very little
• Rigid food rules
• Labeling foods as “good” or “bad”
• Avoiding eating in front of others
• Excessive or compulsive exercise
• Frequent body checking
• Wearing baggy clothing
• Mood shifts tied to food
• Irritability, isolation, or secrecy
• Intense fear of weight gain

Eating disorders are often coping mechanisms rooted in emotional distress or nervous system dysregulation. What may begin as a way to feel safe or in control can become harmful over time.

How to support someone:
• Approach with compassion, not confrontation
• Avoid commenting on weight or appearance
• Do not praise restriction or extreme discipline
• Ask open-ended questions
• Listen without trying to immediately fix
• Encourage professional support early

Instead of saying, “Just eat,” try, “I’ve noticed food seems stressful lately. I care about you.”

Getting help can include individual therapy, trauma-informed care, family support, and learning healthy coping and regulation skills. Recovery is possible, and early intervention improves outcomes.

At Intuitive Healing Therapy, we are here to support individuals and families navigating eating disorders and disordered eating. Healing begins when shame is replaced with understanding.

You are not alone.

When someone is in an active eating disorder, it’s important to understand:

You cannot “logic” them out of it.

You cannot shame them into stopping.

You cannot monitor them into healing.

Eating disorders are complex mental health conditions, often rooted in anxiety, trauma, control, perfectionism, or emotional pain.

If you want to support someone:

🤍 Lead with curiosity, not confrontation.

Instead of: “Why are you doing this?”

Try: “I’ve noticed you seem overwhelmed around food lately. I care about you. Can we talk?”

🤍 Avoid commenting on weight, even positively.

Focus on their feelings, not their body.

🤍 Don’t become the food police.

Monitoring, threatening, or forcing often increases secrecy and shame.

🤍 Encourage professional support.

Eating disorders rarely resolve without structured help.

Most importantly:

Stay regulated yourself. Your calm nervous system helps create safety.

Support is not about control, it’s about connection.

Eating Disorders Don’t “Look” a Certain Way

There is no single image of someone with an eating disorder.

You cannot tell by someone’s weight.

You cannot tell by their race.

You cannot tell by their gender.

You cannot tell by their age.

Eating disorders impact:

• Children

• Teens

• Adults

• Men and women

• People in larger bodies

• Athletes

• Professionals

• Parents

Disordered eating often hides behind phrases like:

“I’m just trying to be healthy.”

“I’m just disciplined.”

“I’m fine.”

If food feels controlling, overwhelming, shame-filled, or secretive. That matters!

Healing starts when shame is replaced with understanding.

We see you. And your struggle is valid.

If you or anyone you know needs support please reach out to us. We are here to walk this journey with you.

Welcome to Intuitive Healing Therapy

At Intuitive Healing Therapy, we believe healing begins when you feel safe enough to be your whole, authentic self.

So what is intuitive healing therapy?
We are a group practice that honors the whole person; mind, body, relationships, and lived experiences. We recognize that healing is not one-size-fits-all. It’s layered, personal, and deeply connected to the systems we live in. Our work integrates evidence-based practices with compassionate, intuitive care.

We are a diverse group of therapists, each bringing unique specialties and clinical approaches to support children, adolescents, adults, and families. As a collaborative group practice, we create an inclusive space where clients can process, grow, and heal at their own pace.

Our Services Include:
• Eating disorder & disordered eating therapy
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
• EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) with trained therapists on staff
• Play Therapy
• Sand Tray Therapy
• Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy
• Parenting Coaching
• Whole-system & collaborative care

We believe healing happens within systems; families, schools, relationships, and communities. That’s why we partner with other professionals to wrap our clients in comprehensive, coordinated support. Your healing journey doesn’t happen in isolation, and neither does our care.

Who is behind Intuitive Healing Therapy?
We are a collective of compassionate, highly trained clinicians who are passionate about creating affirming, culturally aware, and trauma-informed spaces. Together, we bring diverse backgrounds and specialties, united by the belief that every person deserves care that honors their story and strengths.

Whether you’re navigating trauma, anxiety, parenting challenges, eating concerns, life transitions, or seeking deeper connection and clarity. We’re here to walk alongside you.

You don’t have to do this alone.

Today marks the beginning of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week.

Eating disorders do not discriminate.
They affect people of all ages, races, body sizes, genders, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

If you are struggling with an eating disorder or disordered eating, please hear this:

🤍 You are not weak.
🤍 You are not vain.
🤍 You are not “doing this for attention.”
🤍 You are hurting and you deserve support.

At Intuitive Healing Therapy, we approach eating disorders through a whole-systems lens. Healing involves the individual, the nervous system, the family system, caregivers, culture, and the story someone has carried about food and their body.

Recovery is not about willpower. It is about safety, support, and compassion.

You are not alone.

As we step into a new year, let’s release the pressure to have resolutions, goals, or a “brand-new version” of ourselves.

Here are a few gentle ways to break the New Year, New Me stigma:

• Choose reflection over resolution
• Focus on continuation, not perfection
• Honor how far you’ve come, not just where you’re going
• Allow the new year to be a chapter not a demand

You don’t need to rush healing.
You don’t need to prove growth.
You don’t need to start over to move forward.

It’s okay to enter the new year exactly as you are.

As the year comes to a close, we want to gently challenge the idea of “New Year, New Me.”You are not something that need...
12/30/2025

As the year comes to a close, we want to gently challenge the idea of “New Year, New Me.”
You are not something that needs to be fixed, erased, or replaced when the calendar changes.
Healing doesn’t require becoming a new person.
Growth can look like rest.
Progress can look like staying exactly who you are and offering yourself more compassion.

As we move into the new year, what if the goal isn’t reinvention but self-understanding?

You are already enough.
