Disability Network of Mid-Michigan

Disability Network of Mid-Michigan We promote and encourage independence for all people with disabilities. Creating access and inclusion

We believe in what is known as the Independent Living Philosophy. The Independent Living philosophy postulates that people with disabilities are the best experts on their needs, and therefore they must take the initiative, individually and collectively, in designing and promoting better solutions and must organize themselves for political power. We believe that people with disabilities have the same right to participation, to the same range of options, degree of freedom, control and self-determination in every day life and life projects that other citizens take for granted. Thus, we as IL activists seek the removal of infrastructure, institutional and attitudinal barriers in our communities.

Planning for the future? Navigating long-term care or support options can feel overwhelming — but you don’t have to do it alone.

Through the MI Options program, DNMM offers free, person-centered counseling to help adults, people with disabilities, older adults, and caregivers make informed decisions about long-term care supports, community resources, and independence-focused services. A trained counselor will work with you to explore your goals, connect you with resources, and guide you toward the options that fit your needs and values.

Call us at 989-835-4041, visit dnmm.org/MI-options, or dial 800-803-7174 to connect with a counselor.
