I told myself I need to start writing some thoughts about health and wellness more regularly. Today I’m thinking about what people are focusing on when it comes to feeling better and what I am seeing is:
We still want quick fixes.
The old plan was to see your doctor get a pill.
The new plan is to google what is needed for “X” and get a pill.
One required a prescription and the other is easily attainable on amazon.
It amazes be how ready people are to just pop whatever pill into their system hoping for a miracle!!
Either way we want to get better now….
-We don’t want to change our eating habits
-We don’t want to start exercising
-We don’t want to address stress
-We don’t want to get off screens
-We don’t want to go to bed early and get up early
-We don’t want to work on relationships and community and our faith
So many are stressed, overwhelmed, overweight, sleeping poorly, having aches and pains.
The bottom line… there is no quick fix. Getting healthy/feeling better takes a commitment to START DOING SOMETHING. You don’t have to do EVERYTHING at all at once, but you must do SOMETHING!!!
So, take a minute, write down what you are feeling and commit to making one little change in the right direction. Do it for two weeks and then maybe you can make a commitment to doing another. It’s like the old saying that “if you are not moving forward, you are falling behind”.
Until you commit to making some changes in how you are living your life, you can take all the pills you want, and you are never truly going to get better.
Don't get me wrong here, I don't claim to have it all together either, but as soon as I'm done with this, I'm getting on the treadmill, 3rd day in a row !!! :))
