Exercise of the Week: Bear Plank Pull Through

Strength isn’t just about lifting more weight it’s about staying in control while your body moves.

The bear plank pull through teaches your body how to stay stable while your arms and legs are working. This is a skill you use every day carrying groceries, reaching across the counter, pulling something toward you, or simply staying balanced as you move through your routine.

This exercise builds deep core strength, shoulder stability, and coordination. It helps your body resist unwanted movement, which protects your low back, improves posture, and makes everyday tasks feel easier and more supported.

Most people think core strength means crunches or sit-ups. But real core strength is your ability to stay steady while everything else moves. That’s what this exercise teaches.

Getting better doesn’t always mean doing more.

For a lot of people, “progress” has always meant:
more workouts
more intensity
more restriction
more pressure

And eventually… burnout.

What if progress looked different?

What if it meant:
moving better instead of just more
understanding what you’re doing instead of guessing
adjusting when life gets busy instead of starting over

That’s the shift.

Exercise of the Week: Butt Kickers

Butt kickers help teach your legs how to move efficiently behind you, something that’s essential for walking, jogging, climbing stairs, and moving smoothly through daily life.

This exercise trains your hamstrings to activate and coordinate at the right time, instead of letting other areas take over. That timing matters more than most people realize.

When your hamstrings are doing their job well, movement can feel:
• More efficient
• Less stiff and restricted
• More supported through your hips and knees
• Easier to repeat without fatigue

It’s not about speed or intensity.

Last week I shared about coaching middle school cross country and high school track. Watching young athletes grow in confidence, strength, and resilience over time is one of the most rewarding parts of coaching.

But that’s only one side of the story.

I also teach group fitness classes in a local assisted living facility here in our community.

And the goal is the same.

Helping people move well.
Helping people stay strong.
Helping people maintain independence and confidence in their bodies.

Whether someone is just beginning their athletic journey or decades into life, movement still matters.

Coaching in both of these spaces is a constant reminder that fitness isn’t about a short season of life.

It’s about building the strength, skills, and habits that support you for a lifetime. 💜

Stability starts at the hips👇

Exercise of the Week: Clamshell

The clamshell teaches your hips how to stabilize, which plays a huge role in how your entire body moves and feels.

Your hips help control your knees, support your low back, and keep you balanced when you walk, climb stairs, stand, or shift direction. When those muscles aren’t doing their job well, other areas often have to compensate.

That’s when discomfort, instability, or frustration can start to show up.

The clamshell helps rebuild that support in a simple, approachable way.

Over time, this can help you:
• Improve hip stability
• Support your knees and low back
• Move with more balance and control
• Build a stronger, more reliable foundation

It may look small, but exercises like this teach your body how to support you properly.

And those are the skills that make movement feel easier, not just in workouts, but in everyday life.
