Stigma is when someone views you in a negative way because you have a distinguishing characteristic or personal trait that's thought to be, or actually is, a disadvantage (a negative stereotype). Unfortunately, negative attitudes and beliefs toward people who have mental health conditions are common.
Stigma can lead to discrimination. Discrimination may be obvious and direct, such as someone making a negative remark about your mental illness or your treatment. Or it may be unintentional or subtle, such as someone avoiding you because the person assumes you could be unstable, violent, or dangerous due to your mental illness. You may even judge yourself.
Here are some ways you can deal with stigma:
• Get treatment.
• Don't let stigma create self-doubt and shame.
• Don't isolate yourself.
• Don't equate yourself with your illness.
• Join a support group.
• Get help at school.
• Speak out against stigma.

During an rTMS session, an electromagnetic coil is placed against your scalp near your forehead. The electromagnet painlessly delivers a magnetic pulse that stimulates nerve cells in the region of your brain involved in mood control and depression. It's thought to activate regions of the brain that have decreased activity in depression.
Though the biology of why rTMS works isn't completely understood, the stimulation appears to impact how the brain is working, which in turn seems to ease depression symptoms and improve mood.
There are different ways to perform the procedure, and techniques may change as experts learn more about the most effective ways to perform treatments.

Researchers are not sure what causes ADHD, although many studies suggest that genes play a large role. Like many other disorders, ADHD probably results from a combination of factors. In addition to genetics, researchers are looking at possible environmental factors that might raise the risk of developing ADHD and are studying how brain injuries, nutrition, and social environments might play a role in ADHD.
ADHD is more common in males than females, and females with ADHD are more likely to primarily have inattention symptoms. People with ADHD often have other conditions, such as learning disabilities, anxiety disorder, conduct disorder, depression, and substance abuse.

Fact: Contrary to popular belief, most people who see a psychiatrist are not “crazy”. Although there are some individuals who require more care than others, most patients see a psychiatrist to correct chemical imbalances and relieve symptoms. Oftentimes, these people are indistinguishable from people who do not receive psychiatric care. According to MentalHealth.Gov, only about 3-5% of violence is caused by individuals with a serious mental disorder.

Anxiety is often a cause or a trigger of depression. Research indicates women who have generalized anxiety disorder are at an increased risk of developing depression. People with chronic depression often develop symptoms of anxiety as a result of the mental exhaustion of depression. The same is true for sufferers of chronic anxiety. For example, people who struggle with Social Anxiety Disorder often develop depressive symptoms as a result of lifestyle choices made in order to accommodate the symptoms of Social Anxiety Disorder, such as avoiding others and public places.

In the U.S., Borderline Personality Disorder Awareness Month is observed in May as declared by the U.S. House of Representatives. It is dedicated to spreading awareness, encouraging people to not hesitate in getting help, and ending the stigma that surrounds borderline personality disorder. For those who are unaware of the condition, borderline personality disorder is a mental illness that is characterized by difficulty managing self-image, moods, and behavior. People with this condition experience intense phases of depression, anxiety, and anger that can last from some hours to days.
