Hospice of Midland

Hospice of Midland Care from the heart to meet the unique needs of patients and families. Hospice of Midland has provided compassionate care to thousands of patients and families.

The vision of a few members of this community met with a tremendous amount of hard work, cooperation, and love for one’s fellow man. Our continuing commitment is to build on the needs of our patients with a life-limiting illness. Hospice of Midland provides a true community of care for patients and their families as the only non-profit community-owned hospice in the Permian Basin. Hospice of Midland's care follows the patient in the home, hospital, nursing home, assisted living facility or anywhere the patient calls home with patient services available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. When medicine cannot provide a cure, Hospice of Midland can diminish suffering and offer care and assistance that helps maintain a better quality of life for the patient. Our services involve treatment of physical and emotional pain and symptoms focusing on improving the patient’s comfort and quality of life. Our philosophy is that as life nears its end, every individual has the right to spend his or her remaining days in peace and with dignity. We focus specifically on comfort, dignity and pain control as we respond to the symptoms, needs and goals of the patients and their families. Hospice of Midland is accredited by CHAP (Community Health Accreditation Program) and is a member of NHPCO (National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization), TNMHO (Texas & New Mexico Hospice Organization) and the Texas Non-Profit Hospice Alliance.

Celebrating Our Longest-Serving Volunteer – George Johns!

For more than 29 years, George has been a steady presence and a true pillar of compassion here at Hospice of Midland. Our COO, Jacque Burklow, says it best: “He is an oak and consistently helps us in our clinical department.”

As Barbara shared, “He’s humble and one of the most genuine people you’ll ever meet.” Whether he’s lending a hand, sharing a smile, or talking football (he’s loyal to both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Dallas Cowboys), George brings heart and humor to everything he does.

And if there’s a Rosa’s Café nearby, you can bet he’s stopping in for a bite!

Thank you, George, for your nearly three decades of dedicated service to Hospice of Midland. You truly embody our mission of Care from the Heart.

What a Beautiful Day at Centennial Park!
Hospice of Midland was honored to participate in the Midland Veterans Partnership event on Saturday! We met so many incredible people and had the chance to share more about not only our services but also our Four-Star Level We Honor Veterans program — our special way of recognizing and serving those who have bravely served our country. We also gave out information about our outreach program Rays of Hope Children's Grief Centre which is for children who have had a loss due to deployment and other significant changes in their family.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with us and to all who make this community event possible.

Painting with Purpose at Manor Crest Apartments!

Yesterday, we had a meaningful time painting our feelings on rocks to add to the beautiful rock gardens at Manor Crest Apartments. Each colorful stone carried a message of hope, love, and remembrance.

A heartfelt thank you to Anna for inviting Hospice of Midland to speak about our mission and share a little bit of who we are with the residents.

Halloween Carnival last Friday at The Parks Senior Living!

From handing out candy to playing our spooky bowling game, it was meaningful — but the best part was spending time with the residents and hearing their amazing stories.

A big thank you to our amazing volunteer Donna and her superstar Hospice Hound, Kali! 💙🐶

Donna and Kali never miss a chance to share comfort, smiles, and love everywhere they go — and today they shined bright representing Hospice of Midland at the Ector County Wellness Fair!

Kali was, of course, the star of the show (as always!), helping spread the word about our compassionate programs and services.

We’re so grateful for both of you — your hearts make a difference! 💖

What a sweet week it’s been! A big thank you to Madison Medical Resort for hosting such a fun Trunk or Treat event — and special thanks to Saray, Marquetta, and Travis for inviting Hospice of Odessa to join in the festivities!

Our team had an amazing time connecting with everyone (and maybe indulging in a little too much chocolate… we’re definitely gaining a few candy calories this week! )

We love being part of this wonderful community!

Our Story

Since 1981, Hospice of Midland has provided heartfelt care and comfort to patients and their families throughout the Permian Basin. Hospice of Midland is an industry leader for quality and has the most experience and expertise in end-of-life care in our region.

Our services are palliative, based on the philosophy that as life nears its end, every individual has the right to spend his or her remaining days how they choose and in peace. We focus on the patient keeping their dignity, controlling pain, responding quickly to symptoms, and adhering to each individual’s needs and wishes. The Care Team is dedicated to helping the terminally ill live each day comfortably and is there to support the patient and family in a setting that best suits their needs.

When medicine cannot provide a cure, Hospice of Midland is there for you to diminish suffering and offer assistance to help maintain a better quality of life for the patient. We care for the whole person by addressing the physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs.

We give you all the choices – You make the final decisions.
