🌍💙 Happy World Occupational Therapy Day! 💙🌍

Today, we join occupational therapy practitioners around the globe in celebrating the power of ✨occupation✨ — the meaningful activities that connect us, shape who we are, and bring purpose to everyday life.

This year’s theme, “Occupational Therapy in Action,” highlights the active, hands-on ways OTPs around the world help people engage in meaningful activities and participation.

Here in Ohio, OOTA is proud to celebrate our incredible practitioners who embody innovation, collaboration, and compassion every day. Let’s keep finding new ways to support meaningful participation across all aspects of life!

💬 We want to hear from you! Share your OT story — whether it’s hosting a continuing education event, requesting a member spotlight, or writing for the OOTA newsletter.

To every OT, OTA, and student across Ohio: thank you for your passion, creativity, and dedication to empowering others through occupation. 💜

⚠️ A Crisis in Special Education ⚠️

Sweeping layoffs at the U.S. Department of Education have nearly eliminated the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) and the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA)—two offices essential to implementing IDEA and ensuring students with disabilities receive the free, appropriate public education guaranteed by law.

For Ohio’s occupational therapy practitioners, this loss threatens the very foundation of our work.

1️⃣ Critical guidance and oversight from OSEP are disappearing.
2️⃣ Essential services and supports for children and families are now at risk.
3️⃣ And soon, there may be no one left to call for the help schools depend on.

This is not a partisan issue—it’s about protecting the rights and futures of children with disabilities!

📣 Take Action: Tell Congress to restore OSEP and protect IDEA. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive! Visit the link in our bio to send a personalized letter to your representative!
