Season opener.
First tri of the year tomorrow. Rumpus Triathlon Olympic Distance

It’s a big race weekend with Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K as well. Always great to see so many people out there getting after it.

It’s always interesting lining up for the first one. A little excitement, a little unknown, and a good reminder that race day is never a given.

No matter how many years you’ve been doing this, you still don’t really know what the day is going to bring.

And honestly… that’s the fun part.

Simple plan:
Start controlled and finish strong.
Smile at the challenge.
Thank the volunteers.
Grateful to be healthy and back at it.

Who’s racing this weekend?

Happy ! Meet Cole 💪

Cole has been an avid athlete his whole life - football, running, cycling, you name it. But his hyper-mobility had led to bilateral knee pain and frequent dislocations that were keeping him from doing the things he loves most.

After several months of PT and addressing the underlying instability driving his symptoms, Cole is back to running and cycling pain-free, playing football without issue, and just returned from an epic hiking trip to Patagonia where he hiked 57 miles over four days with ZERO knee pain 🙌🏔️

So proud of your progress, Cole! Keep crushing it!

Most runners just run.Few actually practice running.

Here are 4 gait drills I use to improve efficiency:
1️⃣ A SkipThink carbon fiber leg.Firm. Stiff. Mid foot strike.Train elastic energy return.

2️⃣ B SkipProgression of the A skip.Strike on the way back down.Same carbon fiber feel.

3️⃣ Butt FlickOften done wrong.Heel up. Toe up.Knee stays under the hip.First move off the ground is heel up toe up so the lower leg gets parallel to the ground. That sets up better thigh drive and better efficiency.

4️⃣ Step Over DrillPut it all together.Clean motor control.Efficient mechanics.

Do 5 minutes of drills1 to 2 runs per week.

Small investment.Big return.

Move better.Run faster with less effort.

We talk a lot about glutes, lateral hips, and pelvic stability… but one muscle group that often gets overlooked is the adductors (your inner thigh and groin muscles).

In this video, Dr. Tricia is walking through why adductor strength is so important, especially for pelvic stability, hip support, and single leg activities like running, jumping, and cutting. If these muscles are weak, other areas end up working overtime, and that’s often when we start seeing people in the clinic with hip, groin, or pelvic floor issues.

She also demonstrates a few of her favorite adductor exercises, including Copenhagen planks and lateral lunges, along with some ways to modify them depending on your strength level.

If you’re a runner, field sport athlete, or just someone who wants stronger, more stable hips, this is a good one to save and try later.

Happy ! Meet Christine! 💪

Christine came to an originally with low back and knee pain due to an old injury. Her goal was simple, get active again and stay heathy!

After working together to make a plan centered around her goals we got after it. She was persistent and trusted the process!

Now she does 5+ exercise classes a week pain free and is feeling better than ever! Thanks Christine for all your hard work and for choosing us to help you get moving again!

At Active, our providers focus on strength, stability, and safe movement so you can train hard, stay active, and reduce your risk of injury this season 💪
