On Saturday, we were honored to host an es**rt motorcycle ride to the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia for National Wreaths Across America Day. There were over 175 motorcycles that participated to es**rt the ceremonial wreaths to the cemetery. The procession was greeted by over 2000 volunteers that assisted in placing 5500 wreaths on the graves of fallen heroes interred in that hallowed ground! We would like to thank everyone that helped make this incredibly moving event a success!

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Founder, Robert L. Waltrip.



Mr. Waltrip was not just the founder of our Company, but also a visionary leader who laid the foundation for our success. He started SCI in 1962, and served as Chairman of the Board for 54 years, between 1962 and 2016. Through his determination, dedication and leadership, SCI has grown into the successful organization it is today, and serves more than 600,000 families annually through Dignity Memorial providers across North America.



As we mourn the loss of our founder, let us remember Mr. Waltrip for his immense contributions to our Company, our profession and the Houston community. His generous philanthropic contributions helped improve the lives of many individuals and families in Houston and beyond.



Mr. Waltrip's vision and values continue to guide our Company today, and we are grateful for the foundation he laid. Please join us in extending our deepest sympathies to the Waltrip family. He will be greatly missed.

Service Corporation International (SCI) and its major brand, Dignity Memorial®, the nation’s largest provider of funeral, cemetery and cremation services, pledged its support to veteran and active duty military member employees by joining the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Statement of Support Program Thursday. In a ceremony held at SCI’s corporate office, representatives from the Department of Defense and SALUTE, SCI’s veteran associate resource community, were all in attendance at the signing of the Statement of Support, which was signed by Tom Ryan, chairman and chief executive officer of SCI. Army Spc. Ariel Lopez, an embalmer and reservist, represented SCI’s many military associates and was recognized at the event for his service. Johnny Salinas, Marine Corps veteran and funeral services assistant, was also in attendance representing SCI’s veteran community.

Since March 2020, COVID-19 has claimed the lives of more than 10,400 Virginians leaving thousands of families to mourn an unexpected loss. Not only that, but they also faced the financial stress of figuring out how to lay a loved one to rest during a pandemic.
