Tea Time with a focus on Liver Qi Support.
Every season in TCM is correlated with an internal organ and it's energy, personality. Spring represents the wood element, the color green, the anger emotion, and the Liver organ. The liver is in charge of ensuring that the Qi flows smoothly throughout the body. When the liver gets stuck energetically, you may experience mood swings like anger, frustration, irritability, or pain along the sides of the body, or constipation.
One way to support the liver during the spring is by drinking warm teas that include milk thistle or dandelion. Adding in a squeeze from a fresh lemon (sour in nature which is what the liver loves) will double the benefits. These herbs are cleansing and detoxing to the liver -- gentle in nature as to not cause detox side effects.
Just like we like to spring clean our spaces, drinking milk thistle or dandelion tea is a great way to spring clean the liver giving it the support it needs to ensure smooth flowing Qi.
