It's likely some of the symptoms you've been experiencing are the result of a hormone imbalance (even though all your labs are normal!) Here are 3 tips for balancing your hormones naturally:
1. Relax! I know this is easier said then done (especially this time of year!) But the truth is many of us live in a constant state of fight or flight. Your body needs you to get into your parasympathetic nervous system daily. Find some healthy ways to take care of yourself and reduce stress. You might be surprised to learn that this might not include mindlessly scrolling on social media or binge watching your favorite shows. Think more along the lines of a walk in nature, 1 minute of deep breathing, etc.
2. Eat More! Many women have been chronically dieting and undereating for years or even decades. Believe it or not, in your attempt to lose weight , you are sending your body signals that you're in danger. So it begins to shut down all non-essential functions like s*x hormones, hair and nails, weight loss, etc. It's time to start eating MORE nutrient dense foods with a focus on proteins and healthy fats.
3. Move your body! Our body expects us to move daily. This helps with detox pathways, digestion, etc. You don't have to worry about spending an hour in the gym if your time is limited, I know you're busy! Break up your exercise into 10-15 minutes and build on from there. While you're at it, ditch the intense cardio sessions and stop worrying about the calories burned. Start focusing on resistance training and building muscle. This helps burn fat, improve insulin resistance, and improve body composition.
All of this is easier said than done and it's hard to know if you're on the right track. That's why working with a team who knows your individual needs is so critical. When you work with us, you have access to a Nurse Practitioner who will review your individual labs and health markers and make specific recommendations as well as a National Board Certified Health Coach who will help you apply the habits and behaviors that will make the biggest difference in your lifestyle.
Which one of these tips do you think would make the biggest difference for you?
