Agape pronounced ah gah pay, IPA /ɑːˈɡɑːpeɪ/ is an ancient Greek word that represents the highest form of love, one that is selfless, unconditional and spiritual. Unlike romantic or familial love, agape is pure goodwill and compassion that expects nothing in return. It is the kind of love that seeks the well-being of others simply because it is right to do so. In philosophy and theology, agape is often seen as divine love, the love of God for humanity and the love humans strive to show toward one another.
