What an incredible holiday season of giving!

With the support of our Milford Regional Medical Center caregivers, we collected over 1,500 items and delivered 50 boxes of food and essentials to local food pantries. Donations also supported our patients and the ED, Behavioral Health, and Maternity teams.

Flu cases are surging earlier than usual in Massachusetts, and hospitals are feeling the strain. Dr. Jeanne McCoy chair of pediatrics at Milford Regional says cases are rising “more abruptly than in the past,” with UMass Memorial Health seeing more than double last year’s numbers.

State data shows influenza‑like illness jumping sharply across Massachusetts, and clinicians are urging the community to stay aware as the season intensifies.

The flu season is off to an active start, and cases are likely to surge higher after the holiday season. Just a third of eligible people in Massachusetts have received a flu shot.

Flu cases are rising quickly across Massachusetts, and Milford Regional Medical Center is seeing the impact firsthand. Dr. Jeanne McCoy, chair of pediatrics at Milford Regional Medical Center, says the surge in sick children has come on faster than in past seasons, with a sharp jump in positive flu tests over just a few days.

“This year, it started a little more abruptly, and the number of cases we saw became much higher at a much faster rate than we’re usually seeing,” Dr. McCoy said.
