Meet Eileen “Leenie” Jones, Cardiology Technologist at Milford Regional Medical Center.
"I was a CNA all through high school and wanted to pursue a career in nursing. I was accepted to the Framingham School of Nursing for September 1980 and I became a mom that September, so my plans changed. I worked in a nursing home and in 1987 I got a job in the recovery room as a nurse’s aid and stayed there until 1988 when I had my last child and came back to the geriatric floor after my maternity leave, working evenings. I was approached by my friend Anita who was working in cardiology/EKG and asked me if I wanted to learn it. I went full throttle in learning everything about the heart and I began my lifetime career of cardiology.
My favorite part of my job is the patients, families and my coworkers. I love to teach about my job. I have been a cardiovascular technician for 37 years.
My biggest memorable moment for me was when I was asked to be the keynote speaker at Massasoit Community College, where I teach two semesters a year and I have had over 100 students that I have mentored and help get jobs in my field for 15 years. It was a huge honor to speak to all the professors and the students about my incredible career in cardiology.
I love working at UMass Memorial Health because they are not just my coworkers, they are my family and have been there for me through good times and bad.
When I'm not working, I can often be seen spending time with my husband, four adult children and their spouses and the loves of my life — my 13 grandchildren."
You are amazing, Eileen, and we are so grateful to have you here!
