On Thursday, our volunteer coordinator, the lovely Cindy Schaap, hosted a creative Thank You for the DVH Volunteers.

The “Willy Wonka” themed event was well attended and mirrored the sweetness consistently displayed in their works. The citizens give of themselves much in the way that those who feel the call to serve often do.

What makes their contributions stand out is that they choose to support our nation’s protectors in their hour of need.

Recently, the veterans of DVH had the honor of welcoming the 193rd Regiment of the Delaware National Guard. In just a few hours, the team members connected and exchanged stories in a way that only fellow soldiers can, reminding us of the strength and camaraderie that unite us.

Throughout the years, we have consistently relied on them for our pet therapy needs, bringing joy to our community. They have introduced our residents to wonderful companions like Lily, Coco, Riley, and many others you’ve seen celebrated on our site!

The staff at DVH embodies the spirit of the veterans we serve, always ready to rise to a challenge! When someone playfully asked, "So You Think You Can Cook?" our courageous trio—Daniels Sturgis, Lavarr Archer, and Trevor Edwards—stepped forward to prove their culinary skills.

With grills sizzling and spatulas in hand, they embraced this spirited competition by representing diverse countries through their dishes: the United States, Asia, and Italy. Each plate was a testament to talent and creativity, but in the end, it was Daniel Sturgis, proudly representing the United States, who earned the first-place trophy.

Gentlemen, CONGRATULATIONS, YOU PROVED YOU CAN COOK!
