Ronald N. Dube

Ronald Normand Dube passed away peacefully surrounded by his family February 23, 2026 at age 83. This ended a fight against pneumonia waged with the heroic help of the mighty SNHMC Intensive Care unit. Born in Nashua, NH, July 13, 1942, to Cecile Louise Soucy Dube and Normand Francis Dube, Ron graduated from Nashua High School in 1960, and UNH in 1964. He served 2 years in Peace Corps in Niger, West Africa. Upon returning home, he completed a Master’s Program at Rivier College and began a science teaching career that spanned over 40years of teaching science in public schools. Right up to the day he passed, he could recognize every one of the thousands of students he had in classes, and a number of them were there at SNMC to care for him!

Ron wrote and published 7 books, including interviews with area veterans from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He updated the Mason town history for the 250th town birthday. For 14 years he served as Dean of Boy Scout College, hosted in Mason for multistates.

As Ron’s stepmother predicted, Ron endured a “kerosene vs. fire” marriage, lasting 54 years, to Roseanna Dougherty Dube! An Eagle Scout himself (1960), his three sons also became Eagle Scouts: John Philip Dube, Benjamin Laurance Dube, and Luke Dillon Dube who is married to Christine Freeman and gave the family its only grandchild, Penelope Rose Dube. Ron was predeceased by his only brother, Maurice Dube.

Ron’s high school job was putting his Scout lifeguard training to work at Salmon Brook in Nashua. To pay for college, Ron worked many years at Benson’s Wild Animal Farm in Hudson, NH.

Ron worked many years as a part-time photographer and reporter for The Nashua Telegraph, the Manchester Union Leader, and The Monadnock Ledger. He also created special features like interviews and highlights of WWII battles as their anniversaries came around, and the “Ever Notice” column with items of note found in Nature.

Ron spent many years researching and documenting his family genealogy tracing the family back to the time of Charlemagne.

By his wish, there will be no wake or funeral. However, Mason Congregational Church will host a Celebration of Life this spring on: Saturday, May 2. If you would like to come, and even share a few memories at the Ceremony, please contact the family macigi.ron@gmail.com. Your presence at this ceremony, in any case, will be appreciated by the family.

In lieu of flowers, would you consider sending some support to the nonprofit Ron supported:

The Humane Society of Greater Nashua (HSFN) by contacting the Director: kateland@hsfn.org or by mailing to: HSFN, 24 Ferry Road, Nashua, NH 03064.

Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. To share a memory or offer a condolence, please go to www.smith-heald.com

Timothy N. Root

Timothy Nicholas Root, 80, passed peacefully at his home in Milford on February 16, 2026, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.

Tim was born on January 28, 1946, in Rome, New York to Stephen E. Root and Mary Nicolas Root. He spent his formative years in Wi******er, where his childhood energy and knack for mischief earned him the enduring neighborhood nickname “Timmy the Terrible.”

He attended the University of Arizona, graduating in 1968 with a degree in History. Following graduation, Tim answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy. He became a pilot with the HM-12 Squadron, flying Sikorsky SH-3 and CH-53E helicopters. He served with distinction in two tours overseas in Vietnam and Egypt. In 1981, he transitioned from active duty to the Navy Reserve, continuing his service until his honorable discharge in 1992. He retired with the rank of Commander, a testament to his leadership and dedication.

Following his military career, Tim embarked on a successful career in the defense industry, spending the majority of his professional life at BAE Systems, which he joined in 1979. His work brought him back to New England after living across the US, where he resided in Londonderry, Merrimack, and ultimately Milford, New Hampshire. Throughout his career, he also lived in Arizona, Washington, and New York. While working full time, Tim earned his Master of Business Administration from Rivier College in 1985.

Education remained a lifelong passion. Beginning in 2007, Tim taught night courses in business at Rivier, and after retiring from BAE in 2011, he continued as an adjunct professor. He found great fulfillment in mentoring and teaching the next generation of business leaders until 2018, when he proudly “passed the torch.”

Above all, Tim was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Judith Johnson Root; his sons and their wives, Darrin and Holly Root of Manchester, New Hampshire and Peter and Kelly Root of Windham, NH, as well as his four cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Katelyn, Jane, and Willa. He is also survived by his sisters, Nancy Roberts and Julie Woodward. Tim took immense pride in supporting his children and grandchildren in all their activities and accomplishments.

A talented multi-instrument musician, Tim loved playing the piano, especially Ragtime, and had an affinity for Irish folk songs. He was an avid golfer and a lifelong, passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, Boston Bruins, and New England Patriots. He had a voracious appetite for reading—often juggling three books at once—and could frequently be found relaxing with a well-aged bourbon or a fine Irish whiskey. Tim also enjoyed genealogy and researching ancestors in the British Isles dating back to the 1400's.

In lieu of flowers, Tim requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the ASPCA, causes close to his heart.

A service will be held later this spring, with details to follow, to celebrate Tim’s life in view of Mount Monadnock—a fitting and peaceful setting where he requested his ashes be set free.

Tim will be remembered for his service, intellect, humor, steady leadership, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.

Patricia M. Keleher

Patricia Marie Keleher, 73, resident of Wilton, New Hampshire, died on February 9, 2026, after brief hospitalization at the Monadnock Community Hospital, Peterborough, NH. Patricia was born on March 1, 1952, a daughter of the late Albert and Virginia (Kelleher) Keleher.

Born with Cerebral Palsy, and after spending a few younger years at the D.T. Watson Home in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Patty grew up at the family homestead in Framingham, Massachusetts as the number 5 child in a close and loving family of her parents and 6 children. Throughout her childhood Patricia’s parents were a driving force to facilitate Patricia’s neurological and physical development. Patty attended the Kennedy Day School in Boston and participated with the assistance of her whole family in an array of physical therapies including many years of “patterning” exercises (a brain injury therapy) four times per day, which necessitated volunteers coming to the home every day resulting in many enduring friendships. In the 1970s Patty was in her twenties and moved with her parents to New Hampshire. With the rise of community-based living for people with disabilities Patty bravely ventured into independent living – first at Pratt Homes in Nashua, NH followed by Betty’s Dream Rainbow Apartments in Portsmouth, NH. Following independent apartment living Patty transitioned to an in-home care model, living with care providers. With her easy going, warm, loving, and personable nature, this living model was much more suitable for Patty. Patty integrated with her care provider’s family and developed rich, life-long friendships. In more recent years Patty transitioned to the Isaac House in Wilton, NH, a group home where she was once again greatly loved and she dearly loved the care providers in her home.

Throughout her life she engaged in many activities and achievements: getting her GED in 1991 despite the communication challenges she faced, auditing some college courses, employment at a workshop, cooking, music and too many activities to recall. Perhaps Patty’s most remarkable achievement occurred in 2014. After many years of writing, typing on her computer and dictation to aides, Patty published her autobiography entitled The Life of a Late Bloomer which is available online (https://www.blurb.com). One of the great joys of her life was going to summer camps for disabled individuals, especially Camp Jabberwocky on Martha’s Vineyard, which she attended for many summers. At camp Patty established many enduring friendships as she did everywhere she went.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was predeceased by her brother, Paul and brother-in-law Herbert Hardy, husband of Mary Keleher Hardy.

Patty is survived by four siblings – Richard Keleher (wife Kate), David Keleher (wife Hilda), Mary Keleher Hardy (partner George), Joanne Keleher (partner Shawn Abetz) and surviving wife of Paul Keleher (Suzanne) as well as many nieces and nephews – Jonathan Keleher, Sarah Napoline (husband Wes), Kevin Keleher (wife Helen), Alison Carvalho (husband Jonathas), Lora Sester (husband Michael), Daniel Keleher, Elizabeth Slater (husband Zach), Michael Hardy, Ross Douglas (wife Melissa), and Jake Douglas. Great nieces/nephews: Sloane Hardy (daughter of Michael Hardy), Isla Slater (daughter of Liz and Zach Slater), Fiona Carvalho (daughter of Ali and Jon Carvalho), Mason Douglas (son of Ross and Melissa Douglas).

SERVICES: A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Parish, 216 East Dunstable Road, Nashua, NH 03062, followed by a gathering in the Church Hall to celebrate her life. Burial will be on Monday, March 2, 2026, in the family plot with her mother and father at the Holyhood Cemetery, Chestnut Hill, MA. Flowers may be sent to Smith & Heald Funeral Home, Milford, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Cerebral Palsy (https://give.ucp.org/campaign/737369/donate).

William T. Mahar Jr.

On Thursday, January 22, 2026, William (Bill) Thomas Mahar, Jr., 62, longtime resident of Milford, NH, and business owner of GTA Auto, succumbed to the cancer that had sidelined him for many months. Bill was born on July 31, 1963, in Rochester, NY and made home of many locations. Connecticut for a short time and Foxboro, MA where he spent most of his formative years. Bill was predeceased by his parents, William T. Mahar Sr and Marjorie (Batherson) Mahar. He is survived by his sister, Mary Mahar, Brother-in-law, David McNamara of Castle Rock, CO, Nieces, Aislinn Nichols of Castle Rock, CO, and Ceara Ford-McNamara of Parker, CO.

Bill was known to be a risk taker early in his life, sharing many stories of demolition derbies and car races of his early adult life, often recounting the slant 6 that would never die. The antics of fun carried through into his adult life as he would not be averse to driving a junk car off a jump in the back of his property. Notably, the infamous Lincoln “continental air” which was said to have attained remarkable flight.

He was a kind and caring man who lived his life on his own terms and valued everyone who contributed to his spirit, professionally and personally. The memory of his deep, signature belly laugh will forever brighten the spirits of those who gave him the right jokes or caught him at the right time. Bill will be missed tremendously for more reasons that words can describe.

Friends are encouraged to share a memory on the GTA Auto page where the date of a future Celebration of Life will be announced in the coming months.
