I teach yoga.
I study the yamas.
I try — every day — to live my practice, not just teach it.

And because of that, I cannot stay silent.

Ahimsa — non-violence — doesn’t stop at the edge of a yoga mat.
Satya — truth — asks us to look directly at harm, even when it’s uncomfortable.
Asteya — non-stealing — includes stolen safety, dignity, and lives.
Metta — loving-kindness — calls us to care for all beings, not just the ones who look like us or live like us.

What is happening in our country around immigration enforcement is violent. It is dehumanizing. And it directly contradicts the values yoga asks us to embody.

This isn’t about politics.
This is about humanity.
This is about refusing to normalize harm.

Yoga is not spiritual bypassing.
Peace is not passive.
Compassion requires courage.

If this makes you uncomfortable, I invite you to sit with that — the way we sit with sensation in a hard pose — breathing, staying present, not turning away.

Yoga teaches us to reduce suffering.
That means dismantling systems that cause harm — including ICE as it exists today.

This is me living my practice.
Off the mat.
In the world.
